Anonymous, 26 Apr 2013Sorry. I meant Xperia J and not P. Trying to find out which is better between J and U.dude, even if you get a Samsung galaxy ace, thats better than xperia j.
compared to U, only thing in xperia j is it got jellybean.
but for that price, it got nothing worth buying for.
may be the fwvga resolution? well no use as well, coz 90% wvga games dont work in xperia j. and the phone itself is one of the worst lagging androids out there.
I recommend sola; just few bugs in ics but sd card and 6gb internal, or if you are a bit outwardy, take the go; gets jellybean and waterproof.
if you want the U and doesnt care for memory and jellybean update. take it.
Whats up SONY whit this shit?!When i want to call a person, the phone it's freezing and i must to wait and wait. Many problems with this garbage phone!!!
sam, 26 Apr 2013wreck plz. help !!!!!
plz. reply to my post on 25/4/2013get snapping in an instant means the quick snap camera mode....
its there in all xperia u
lock your screen off and hard press the shutter key. the phone will start the camera in quick mode and automatically snap whats in front of it at the moment. awesome fast in gingerbread, 1.2 second snap
any idea about the video scaling problem dude?
Anonymous, 26 Apr 2013Sorry. I meant Xperia J and not P. Trying to find out which is better between J and U.tell me ur budget den il suggest u..
Xperia u users have you noticed that the on. the go. support is not working properly??
xperia u users in ics.
have you ever encountered this issue??
when playing hd videos through mx playr, bs player in hw mode, or even default player, all in landscape can you see any vertical black scales in the video?
like when the frames move faster, the video keeps playinf. but it doesnt get refreshed fast enough to show the new frames, as a result the video appear as if sliced vertically with black lines.
doesnt happen over the entire display, just on the area where theres the most movement.
please, anyone carefully observe if it occurs or not. use high quality 720p videos for testing.
in case of the trailer of the film lone ranger. if you have seen it, this glitch shows up during the first scenes shown as if a memory, when the guy wakes up and moves his feet, his feet get sliced up with black areas. like wise
it happened to me and thats another major reason I downgraded to gingerbread. I want to know is it just me or a common glitch in xper. u ics....
showbiz, 25 Apr 2013I am torn between buying Xperia P and X U? Which is better? Why?P is twice better than U, 1Gb ram > 512MB , 8MP camera > 5MP, 4' screen > 3.5' , U max at ICS while P upgradable to Jelly Bean, Just go for the P when you an extra money. while xperia U is not a bad phone. but P is still better than U
I upgraded from gingerbread (GB) to ICS, using firmwares b10 and b54. I can definitely say that b54 made the phone performance as fast as GB. I recommended rooting your phone if necessary to flash b54. Rooting is easy:
1. Download flashtool, firmwares(f) b10 & b54, and kernels(k) b10 & b54
2. Place firmwares and kernels in the 'firmwares' folder of where you installed flashtool.
3. Enable USB debugging on phone
4. Flash f.b10 (don't do this if you already have ICS b10 on your phone), root, flash f.b54
5. Flash k.b10, root, flash k.b54. DONE!
If you're new, I recommend looking at detailed guides to rooting Xperia U. Also, if you're phone is ST25a, tick the exclude baseband option when flashing (because international phones operate differently than American)
I realize there is a newer firmware out, b89. I heard it makes the phone even better, but since I'm happy with b54, I won't upgrade anytime soon.
guys plz help !!!

Amit, 25 Apr 2013Hi Sam, I read your opinion, I want to tell u that u can upgrade ur phone but u cant downgrade... morebrother i know i myself cannot downgrade it but service center people can.......so i ws planning to give it to service center for the same........btw which version u r using , n what are your reviews about it ????
I've been using this phone now for almost 3 months after being a hardcore Nokia loyalist and i have to say i'm pretty darn impressed. I'm glad my first Android experience was on a Sony phone because first of all the User Interface is by far the classiest on Sony phones. It's smooth and a treat to use. However one thing that had me worried was the battery life , but that's just something you gotta accept in exchange for the simply empowering experience that is Android ! (Don't get me wrong though, it isn't all that bad ! Pretty standard for Android phones) To counter the problem i bought a portable charger from Sony and that pretty much solves THAT problem of mine.
My favourite feature though is the notification bar! It changes colours as you're viewing photos and is an absolute delight! You can even download an App to configure the light to notify about events such as missed calls, text messages ,E-mails,Whatsapp messages et al with their own dedicated colour and style of blinking!
I like to keep changing the feel of my phone with ringtones and wallpapers etc and this phone felt like it was made for me because i got changeable covers with my phone (the pink thing as displayed in the picture, though i got black and white) which was really awesome, though i've had a hard time finding more colours. Heating CAN be a problem if you're going overboard with you're usage but keep closing apps and restart your phone on a regular basis and you're pretty much good to go. Other users have told me that some features like contacts, phone dialer and messaging start to lag horribly over a period of time and i guess i'm seeing trailers of that right now but third party apps can solve that issue with no hassle.
Camera and Music quality are superb (as always with Sony).Android GingerBread is what you get stock though Ice Cream Sandwich is a better bet.
I see a lot of people complaining about the storage and i guess it can be bothersome for people who stuff their phones .You have to see that 4gb is for the system and 4gb is for the user.In the system 4gb you can download all your apps and other stuff and the rest is for your movies, songs, photos etc.So keep shifting apps that get loaded onto YOUR share of the space.
Overall it's an awesome phone and a great choice if you're going to be a first timer to Android and also if you've used Android on 'Non Sony' phones. Not too hard on the pocket and absolutely the most bang for your buck !
successfully downgraded to gingerbread... so happy! my phone performs well again like new one... my advice to all sony xperia u users:NEVER UPGRADE TO ICS. and just in case you already upgraded it and want to revert it back to gingerbread, just visit the nearest sony service centre around you and they will do the repair.... job well done! i love sony!
