It's pure bullshit. Perhaps Apple and Samsung are selling you crap phones there in Asia? But I doubt it. Here in the US they are among the best phones available. There's a reason why they are #1 and #2 in sales worldwide. And FYI I do own the XA-1 since May 2017 and it works great; but clearly there are other production lots that have major defects and I sympathize with those who bought one.
If you're looking for a great snapper and heck of a wonderful screen in a compact and rather nice to hold form, This is definitely the phone for you, However after using the XA1 for over a Year I would say aside from the above, Its a rather unreliable phone for a user that wants to be connected to the internet 24/7, Personally I have experienced network connectivity issues all the time with the XA1 , (Malaysia - Webe 4G-LTE/Band 5), Completely useless indoors or behind buildings when cheaper phones of other manufacturers shine and is able to get decent signal. Battery capacity is not that great either, and yes I have experienced the Touchscreen problem too, my whole screen would not respond to touch, luckily that is covered under warranty though it took them a full month to get it fixed. About the network issue, they blamed my carrier though my argument is how can other cellphones of cheaper and shoddier brands work very well but not a Sony? Truly dissatisfied and disappointed, Stay away from this model

Seems aggressive? You should think again about your impressions than with your money. Sony is top brand best value for money. You need proof? Buy XA2 and see for yourself if you can get other device better at its price and class (at least).

I'm a Sony fan too (I have other device Sony, SWR 30, headset, DVD for example and other Hi-Fi device).
I have explain only my experience. I don't care other brands.
Certainly in the future before buying another Sony smartphone I will value my money well

It's not a problem solving for Sony, but Sony will take action in most of the cases. This is a very good example of Dave.
I was having problems with XA model of not responding on margins of the touch. Did the same and I wasn't bothered. Samsung S8+: Screen died in few days and I know 4 cases among my friends, still everyone is buying it.
Sony will surely quit Mediatek motherboard and drivers. Sony will help, be patient and follow the necessary steps.

Sony devices are among most reliable and it's amazing how some *dudes* complaining about going to another makers is a waste of time and money. Samsung and Apple have the worst reliability possible per device and still these are considered to be the best. This kind of placebo coming from inexperienced people and bad maintaining is not to be desired.
Who among latest people who posted here to read my posting from below and not to spit bad conclusions here and do something good? Who? So please, learn from people who know to solve problems and not to complain about them!

Although I love the phone, I am having hardware issues and even though phone is only 4 months old Sony will not replace. They want me to mail it in and wait 14 days before it is returned. Their employees are from another country and communicating is next to impossible. I finally gave up and going to purchase another brand.
My phone did the same ref the drop down menu for notifications - however i dont want to be without my device to send it back to have it repaired however you can download a Drop Down status bar application from Google play for free which has resolved the issue for me. Screen still doesnt pull down however the press of the button drops the notifications section fine.

In your country selling laws are different in my opinion and you should ask people like me (knowing some things having connections) from there.
If you know how to speak your problem surely Sony will help. If you know how to flash it, try to flash with the first firmware available in 2017 of Nougat. Good luck.

If you ask them where to set a clock alarm in this device they will need an hour to find out, just take care! Indolent people think that whole markets are the same - just crap!
Beware of trolls changing their profiles or sending by Anonymous profiles bad comments. To these people: who the *in the Niagara falls* do you think you are to mesmerize people that in 10 months the phone will crack?! You are the ones to crack your XA1 phones by bad apps and maintaining.
Me and my friends with the same device are a living proof. Go and have a life and stop blaming people knowing to use this device. Good stores and Sony Center will change it, trust me (at least in my country - Romania).

You will face this problem after 5-6 months of use
I bought this phone a year ago on June 2017. About a few months later the notification bar starts acting up and won't drag down no matter how many times I tried. I solved this issue by using a 3rd party app that allows me to drag down the notification bar, but it is very unconvenient especially when you're playing a game or watching a video.
I thought that was all, then a few months later the screen on the left and right side became very unresponsive that I have to apply a bit of pressure just to make a tap. A few months later again the back, home & recent apps button became unresponsive as well and it is very frustrating. I have decided to send this phone to the service center and hoping they will repair or replace it with another model, replacing with the same model will give me the same frustration again in a few months.
I always love Sony products though this phone was the first Sony phone I have ever used and this leaves a bad impression for me against Sony. I thought you could do better Sony.

Funny ... more4 months after updating to oreo i got these issues. notification bar and corners issues. i guess ur mobile is new one and it may take some tym for these issues. even sony itself told that mobile xa1 with oreo are having touch issues. so i used my warranty for display change. at some point of time ur mbl also will get those issues because it got updated to oreo. my suggestion is to if u feel like any issues on phone before 1 year claim your warranty and dnt delay.
