This model is having serious problem with its touch screen... I bought this model in October 2017 and by March end of 2018, the touch screen started loosing sensitivity towards the right side edge... Took it to the servicing center and they repaired it and delivered it to me on 11th April 2018... Within two days same problem has started and now again it is in servicing center... I trusted on SONY... But it failed to keep that trust intact... Is SONY listening???

The 23px camera is good, but slow when taking pictures
Most importantly, anyone having issues when typing, specially when choosing the side screen letters like the (P) and (Q) letters? having issues with it, i cant tap on them unlike other letters - maybe something with the little curved sides? i dont know, im planning to return it.
The phone is in the perfect handy size and very handy look. Camera quality is very satisfactory for the price. Phone interface is good. It has all the usual Sony Phone Nice effects and features. Everything else seems to be good with this phone expect for the touch problem I face with it with the usage of one month.
I have figured its more or less edge screen makes the touch responsiveness less near the end-sides of the sceen. This is annoying when you type. You have to tap few times to find the sensitive area type "a" and "p"
Which country you all complainers from? Here in South Africa we have no issues with Sony customer care services. I had problem with my Xperia last year after 3 months of purchase, I returned it they gave me another oner one.
Got android 8 today, Romania on orange carrier. I use the phone since November 2017 and no issues. The camera is amazing, in every possible way. After the update everything works well.

This device has touch screen pr... moreSince update on sunday I have no sound when receiving incoming messages 48hrs later after twice taking phone back to factory settings. Speaking to someone from Sony who was unable to solve the issue and told me to again take the phone back to factory settings. If I did not have a phone contract I'd put the phone in the bin. Pointless having updates when it messes about with your phone
This is bad product and the repair service is even worse. I purchased the phone in October 2017. After only 2 months the touch screen was very unresponsive. Eventually it was completely unresponsive down the right hand side and I couldn't pull down the notifications menu. I returned it to the place of purchase who sent it for repair. I received no information on the progress of the repair and it was taking so long the retailer called the repairer to check the status. They were told the parts were on order and it would be a MINIMUM 5 week repair period. 5 weeks! For a phone. What was I supposed to do in the meantime?
But you don't even need to take my word for it. Google "Sony Xperia XAI touch screen not working, unresponsive right hand side" and you'll see plenty of people with the same problem. Same problem with the phone, same 6 week repair period.

This device has touch screen problem. Thousands of threads on the internet, few on youtube. But Sony says they are not aware of any such issue. Worst customer support.

It's easier to ask questions and never to care about its answers or to comment in a ''hey I'm better than you'' replies). What kind of bargain you make if you take a product from a store that cannot accept/support its warranty? Yes, I saw different problems with this model because of Mediatek's kernels. But that means 3 important things for a smart customer:
1. You read all the forums about this model and the experiences of some other users and the markets this device is available. For example is the single sim model having problems or the dual sim, is it about the Asian market or European having these problems.
2. You go to a store having most reliable prices and services that will allow you to change the device with ease if something happens.
3. You care for it in a way not to break it in some way. Meaning you buy a screen protection, you clean it time to time, you never throw it where you want like it's a stupid toy that doesn't really matters because in fact you wanted another phone and you come in this forum and put useless questions. You reset it, you flash it so that means you care and you know to how to care!
If these few steps are not ok with anybody, you can buy ten times the J5, A8, S8 and all will have problems. I know more J5 (2017) and S8 models in my country with dead/black touch screen after one month of usage than XA1, but while their distribution is made by much many stores that respect their warranty, no customer complaints.
I am not a guardian of anyone or anything, but it's real that I care about this device and because I care: IT WORKS and ROCKS!

Everything else in the phone worked perfectly just the touch screen. My screen even developed a weird yellow tinge on the left hand side and was growing down.
Personally, these touch issues are not software related. I think they are hardware related and something to do with the design of the phone. This phone has been repaired once before and had two models replaced, but the issues keep coming back.
