xzzzz, 07 Nov 2017alkaleido is plastic mixed with brick and colored like metal. The interview from the Sony spokeman (Maker) Shinji Kanada:
"Yes. TYPICALLY, AFTER THE ANODIZING PROCESS, you can still see slight lines from the material showing through on the surface. With ALKALEIDO™, this situation is much improved. This gives it a shiny, ‘shimmeryÂÂÂ’ look that we think is beautiful from every angle. It is really challenging to create glossy aluminium, especially a large part like the full back section of the Xperia XZ, and IN HIGH VOLUMES."
What is ANODIZING ? Search Google yourself.

Question: it (XZ1) has issue (bug) in dialer number or not!? And... It (XZ1) has forest blue or not!?? Thanks
I use the XZ1 and find it great for everyday use. No heat problems the phone is quick smooth reliable . It's an overall fantastic phone and would recomend to anyone.
Tann Hauser, 06 Nov 2017Nah. Fiberglass, just like on XZ1 C. Most durable, nice looking and convenient. No, Fiberglass is NOT the most durable. Aluminum is the most durable. The best all round build material is Plastic. Plastic is very strong and enables great Antenna reception. However, Plastic may not be the most attractive looking or feel.
hey XZ1 users,
could anyone tell me if you face any overheating issue with this phone while using it in games, internet or calling for long time? plzz help bec. i need to buy this phone

Aluminium design stinks, I wish Sony would go back to classy design of glass back just looks amazing to look at just like XZ premium. Before yall start on saying, "glass back cracks and shatters" blah blah etc, aluminium phones are prone to dent scuffs and paint chipping which looks beautiful to look at I think not, when you have no choice but to use a case to cover up the ugliness of aluminium unibody. Aluminium is a horrible material to build a phone with. It's easy to bend, it's easy to dent, and radio waves hate it. Glass just looks better, durable and stronger and it's becoming a trend now.

"The rear cover of the device is made from an aluminium alloy marketed as ALKALEIDO, a trademark by Kobe Steel, specifically engineered to complement the smartphone's premium design with a material that has an extra shine and a feeling of depth."
In summary, Alkaleido is shiny aluminium alloy only.

I buy their high-end flagships every single year, starting from Z series till now X series. At first they are leading, but somehow after the XPERIA Z3+ they seemed to be lost. Right now they are at the borderline in terms of them following the trend, previously it was the memory that made people complain because it is slightly lesser than the competition, and now it is the problem with the bezels. Sony is late again, so in order to do better than this year they better trim down the bezels, otherwise it is GGWP to them

It would be a no brainer if they remove the headphone jack. Nice to see that Sony is sticking to the headphone jack this year at least unlike the competition.
leo R, 03 Nov 2017Rock solid=heavy You can't find a light rock solid phone.A smartphone's structure must have enough volume of material to ensure it strengths and durability, that's why you can find cheaper smartphone must very lightweight, because the volume material of used is lower, for example a building must have strong structure and solid built, thus the material must have a enough volumes.
