Even the battery still lasts 2 days on a charge. It has been well taken care of, after 8 years there is still not a single damage or scratch on it. Hope Sony comes out with a new compact model one day.

Still using this masterpiece, bet everyone at Sony still regrets making these since mine is working properly afer 8 years (bought used after 4 years I think), battery is solid if you use it as a phone, as it was intended from the very concept of mobile phones. If you don't overload it with crappy apps and games from store, then it will serve you much longer than intended and expected. Cheers Sony, hopefully you keep making long lasting products!

Aditya, 30 Aug 2025MicroSD 512 GB in XZ1 Compact ? Work ?I used to use a 400 GB SD-card with this phone. So at least that works.
Nowadays, I just have most things on ny NAS instead though.

I ran this phone for about 3yrs. It was a solid performer in its day. I wish Sony would bring back compact phones.

I have 3 of these, 2 of them lost their DRM keys from having custom roms flashed, then flashed back to stock. one remains normal on the final update but it sucks how sluggish it is and the battery isn't great. I would pay someone to properly flash this thing with a custom ROM and hopefully revive it. I don't have the patience to do stuff that technical.

I just watched entire season of a tv series in 720p on this smartphone, lasted 6 hours and 20-ish minutes, it still has 35% battery. How is that for a 8 year old phone. Oh, it has 512GB memory card in it. Best little Sony ever made.

-Camera shutter s... moreRegarding JP stock apps, try using ADB AppControl to disable them (Windows).
International XZ1 ROMs have fingerprint reader enabled. It is the US/CA ROMs that disabled it (because of licensing is what I heard).

I've had an X... moreI was using a Germany ROM, but flashed "oem_X-FLASH-CUST-C93B.sin" file from Freedom Mobile's ROM (Canadian network, which I use), which allowed me to use VoLTE and wifi calling.
I don't know if a network specific ROM is required. Freedom did not carry XZ1 Compact, but they carried the regular size XZ1, which is where I extracted the .sin file from. Good luck.

Anonymous, 24 May 2025Hi can anyone help me in bootloader unlocking. I have cz1c Japanese version using in IndiaI think you can only change the unlock bootloader permission to "Yes" by buying credits for a software called QUnlock. Go to XDA forums and look. I've never had an Xperia that didn't allow bootloader unlocking, so I'm not updated on all the latest developments.

Just got Kingston 512 GB SDXC U3 card and it works like a dream in 4/32 GB XZ 1 Compact.
I love this little phone!!!

I've had an XZ1c since it came out. The stock US firmware for Oreo does not have fingerprint reader support, but re-flashing with a euro ROM will enable it. Unfortunate Euro doesn't support VoLTE, so you have to combine the two for functionality today.
