xXENDER FREAKXx, 12 Feb 2018Clearly there are a lot of things that the people working for Sony think are wrong. The apertu... morethank you, but you seem to know very little about cameras.
First, Sony do not make DSLR's. They are the kings of the MIRRORLESS system, the Alpha series.
Second, ois is important for still shots at night where minor shakes exacerbate the already noisy, long exposed shot.
Three, and this is very important, a 1/2.3 sensor is bigger than 1/2.6 or 1/3. It is math here man, you seem to know very little about math. 1/1=1 which is the biggest value. 1/5= 0.2 which is a smaller value.
Pixel size is negligible on such small sensors. Yes bigger pixels are better but this has proven very insignificant on small sensors, look at htc M7/8, which claimed the bigger pixels will preform better in low light but the result was catastrophic.
The key factors for success are the F and the ois for night photography.
dragonov, 12 Feb 2018ok a lot of ppl are bashing the xzp camera in low light, Yes it is bad in auto mode honestly,... moreClearly there are a lot of things that the people working for Sony think are wrong. The aperture, they should put at least a F1.8, the right spot for not overexposing photos and not having very dark photos in low-light, but I think OIS isn't needed, since videos have EIS, plus if they improve their software by putting more effort which I believe they can since they make excellent DSLR cameras, then OIS wouldn't be needed. And there are 2 more things I realized that affects their photo quality, the sensor size and the pixel size. The sensor size for their own custom Exmor RS sensors made only for their own smartphones is only 1/2.3", which is relatively is quite small when comparing to other high-end flagships since those sensor size ranges from 1/2.4" to 1/2.9". Why am I pointing it out? Because bigger sensors can result in better quality photos, if they want high MP count then they should focus on this. It seems like they are staying at 1/2.3" for their flagships, and they are probably going to do so for their future sensors for Sony high-end flagships, so another factor they should think is the pixel size. Another similar story to their own custom Exmor RS made for their own smartphones, pixel size is(again) relatively small, coming at 1.22μm , while others have at least 1.4μm pixel size. But if they are not releasing new ones for their smartphones and going to use their current ones, then the only way to improve the low-light photos is the camera software. In conclusion, even though there are a lot of factors that make up a excellent camera, the most important thing that makes up most for the camera, is the software
ok a lot of ppl are bashing the xzp camera in low light,
Yes it is bad in auto mode honestly,
why? aperture is 2.0 and there is no ois
that's why s8 performs better.
now, if you can hold you phone steady, the Sony can get you much better results, say 0.5 second or longer.
impractical for snaps but you can work sthg out.
Apeiron, 01 Feb 2018Better main camera? Yeah right.
At least try to be objective. The aesthetic is a subjective... moreNokia 8 has only ip53 sir, you have no idea what you are talking about.
the xzp main camera is wonderful except in low light, and even in this regards you can work sthg out in manual mode to get wonderful results.
the design is subjective, but the nokia's is boring while the xzp's is elegant yet dated, like a classic car from the 1960s.
Stereo speakers, 4k display, 960 fps slo mo,
no, the xperia is a safer buy

AnonD-734591, 11 Feb 2018what did u trying to prove? u see in the first video that the s8 better. Yes, S8 has a far better camera with great low light photography. Sony has worst low light photography in its class and most recommend to use a tripod.
I moved from the horrible xperia xz to this one. initial impressions? Great build quality, but I don't understand why we need 4k, to my eyes the 1440 looked the same like 2160 on youtube.
I am yet to find out how long the battery lasts. But initial performance is promising.
The performance is class leading, I really enjoy it.
The sound is low and I am not happy.
The bezels, meh, I don't mind them. The device is elegant!
Camera is excellent in daytime, horrible at night and feels it's from 2007. with long exposure of 0.5 or up, the image improves a lot, but you'll need a tripod.
the device deserves a 7/10.
AnonD-434597, 09 Feb 2018Maybe one of daydream requirement is OLED, or maybe Sony phone arent quiet popular or not well... moreVery wise words. Yes, Sony is really out in the woods and totally lost. Most other major brands have be used by google to make its phones. Everything is only half made by Sony, hence the public know, and its sales numbers have dropped to outside the top 10

What about your nonsense of 30min recording 1080p 480fps, what kind of on-chip memory that can handle that much data? do you know what kind task is this? Do you want the S9 to encounter the same faith of the fiasco of the Note 7 or even worst? Or you are just using a strange power in your comment "power of stupidity" to kill my brain cells? Because it actually worked congratulations.

This phone has 4K display so no way it doesnt get google attention, its only sny dont know how to work.
HTC, sammy, lg, huawei, moto all have made nexuses/pixels they are all have quality they are all know how to work. ZTE has worked with google to make axon7 the first device to support daydream, xiaomi works with google for android one, even local vendors in my country works with google to provide a device with unique service...

htt... moreI reply to you as I dont want to reply to that "gimmick"mouthfull one. Sorry for that.
We must not hurt obvious troll's feelings or sth apparently here.
They dont even know the definition of a gimmick.
As soon as I read gimmicks in comments....
I know where that discussion can lead....nowhere.
As soon as their fav brand gets these "gimmicks" at half the speed, they will be gimmicks no more.
AnonD-434597, 09 Feb 2018Yup, No VR support, mostly run fhd, no daydream support from google, thats very much wasted te... moreAll 3D VR gaming android content is max 1920x1080 res, including Daydream and GearVR. And by max, I mean very few games at that high res. One of very few games runing at that res is MC 5.
So be it 2k or 4k screens, VR games run in FHD max, VR video can run up to 4k depending on the app.
Therefore your beloved 2k screen also runs VR game content in fhd, but cant run VR videos in 4k if available.
Before you troll avand, again, I beg of you, at least do some research.
You come out quite ignorant like this.

Anonymous, 09 Feb 2018Your logic is totally flawed. Sony has no real support for VR. No mobile VR headsets, no VR st... moreYou talk about flawed logic, and yet discuss circumstantial tech stuff.
How can those relate?
Does Sony need VR related stuff and stores so people could enjoy their VR experience on its 4k screen?
The answer is simply no.
Go buy a Bobo z5 VR headset, it is the best one out there supposedly....
Install any VR suite, or VR video capable app from store....
Enjoy your VR on a 4k Xperia screen.
Mobile VR is related to 3rd party VR google makers and app/game providers, as Mobile VR is dependent on things allpresent in all todays smartphones, it does not require any special tech specific to any manufacturer.
Just because some companies make their own googles and VR apps, doesnt at all mean those are any more capable for VR.
And Sonys 4k screen is best for googled VR, as it has most pixels per degree than any other mobile

Most xz premium owners became YouTube video makers because of this feature, Samsung tried to copy this feature with the s9 but unfortunately they managed to do only half of the speed, perhaps next year but at least they tried.
