CHEATED CUSTOMER OF SONY XPERIA Z !!
I bought new Sony Xperia Z on 1st Feb 2014 by paying Rs 30,000 from my hard earned money; thinking it is one of the best phones among all the other brands, but I was wrong. I was promised in writing the following:
1. 6 months warranty (as in all the phones)
2. 6 months accidental coverage - wherein Sony promised that all types of accidental coverage will be provided
3. Sony Xperia Z is a water resistant phone; meaning provided all the ports are closed, the phone can resist direct water contact (cannot be submerged in water)
Just 4 months down, the “unlock button” of phone started giving problems. I went to the Sony service center at Malad (East) on 14th July 2014. They made me wait for 4 hours (no exaggeration) before they checked my phone. They took my phone to another room for 10 min, and then he came to me saying the phone has got water damage. I was shocked to hear that and again clarified that the touch and everything else is working perfectly; only the lock button is having problem. He showed the color of the litmus paper change on the flaps of the charging point and the head phones point. As my phone is covered under accidental warranty, he asked me to fill the form describing the details of accident which never happened.
After 1 week of waiting, I finally call up myself on 21st July to know that the “warranty” as well as “accidental warranty” is rejected and that I will have to pay for the repair. Frustrated after trying for long, I finally gave up and said OK to pay thinking I will pay Rs 2000-3000 max and get things sorted. After again waiting for 1 week and not receiving any call from Sony, I called up again. After finally following up again and again, they finally gave me the quote. And then came the shock of my life. SONY GAVE ME THE QUOTATION OF RS 28,000 for REPLACING THE OLD PHONE AS THE “MOTHERBOARD HAD GOT DAMAGED AND CANT BE REPAIRED”. I said only the lock button is not working. But they had only 1 thing to say - warranty is cancelled and you have to pay. I gave a call to Sony toll free no. to speak to Sony executive on 19th July 2014. By far, I had the worst experience with any product of any brand - local or International. They kept on asking for first 48 hrs to address the issue; even after agreeing that this is something that should be covered under accidental warranty which we had bought. Then next day on 28th July, after explaining the issue for the 3rd time to a 3rd person altogether, they transferred me to a senior executive who again asked 24 hrs with the promise that he himself will call back. By now, I obviously knew the false promises by Sony, so I knew he won’t call for sure. So by day end on 29th July, I called up again just to hear that it is still under process. Today on 30th, I got a call from Sony to hear that it won’t go ahead and that I will have to pay the said amount to get my phone repaired.
Sony has left me with no option but to go to the ‘Consumer Court’ and fight for the FRAUD that Sony has done. I intent to charge Sony with the following:
1. Providing a faulty product with a claim that it is water-resistant which I question
2. Giving a false promise of “accidental warranty” and cheating the customer later on
I had Purchased Sony Experia Z From Dubai in November 2013, Its Battery is not giving proper usage and Screen Glass also got broken, I am denied service support by Sony Mobile's India unit in Baroda Gujarat. Please do not buy this phone.
I have this phone for 4 weeks. update of 4.4.2 android on new phone. processes are fast. battery is weak. upcoming update 4.4.4. in August should improve battery life.
As we move on to older Sony devices, we start to see signs of devices that might not receive this update. If we look at the release date for these devices then you can tell why we are unsure about whether or not they will be updated. The Sony Xperia Z 2013 was first released in February 2013. This means the updates should come until August 2014. The Sony Xperia ZL was released a month later so the expiration date for updates should be September. The Xperia Tablet Z was released two months later so the expiration date for updates should be November. Lastly, the Xperia ZR was released a month after that so the expiration date for support should be December.
If Google releases Android L in the Fall (November is the speculated time frame), then all of those except the Sony Xperia ZR most likely will not receive the update.

I had some lag issues like in settings app and notification bar so I had to force gpu for 2D rendering in develpper options and reboot! After that thing it has been working super smooth kitkat is really light on proccessors! Smoother than project butter! Awesome sony 😃 recently I got another update which fixed those lag issues pn default gpu rendering ! Nice GG

Click on the "Check for updates button" and select repair my phone. Then the program will download the official 4.4.2 update from SONY servers and flash your phone with that firmware. Before do this make a backup on all your stuff from INTERNAL memory. After the process finishes turn on your phone and again make factory reset. This should work.

Nope.. I have seen 81% battery consumed by goggle services.
But how to close it, I don't know.
I love this phone,I bought this in last may 2013 and 1st time facing prob.
Otherwise phone is ultimate.

Sir, I did the same thing with my Sony Xperia Z, updating to 4.4.2 and then factory reset, but still the same, it keeps on crashing all the time and hanging through out when I open different applications. Please suggest alternates...
sony has actually late us (customers)esp on 4.4.2 update to Xperia Z. Its now more than 2 months since its release but so far no update for devices in Kenya. Whats the problem!!?

Sony service center doesn't repair screen. If the phone is under warranty period then u need to 50% of the phone cost and get it replaced with a new set.
If the phone is not under warranty period then you need to pay 60 to 80% of the phone cost to get a new replacement.
I faced this issue as my screen broke and as it was not under warranty they asked me to pay 80% of the phone cost to be replaced with a new phone.

Do it and that will fix all your probs. When I updated from 4.2 to 4.4.2(few weeks ago) everything on my phone was crashing. I couldn't go to settings menu to make factory reset, but after the factory reset, I don't have problems at all.
Of course XZ will get Lolipop update. Just wait the official announcement. For android i will use this XZ at least for 3years can more.
