AnonD-160451, 30 Jun 2013SONY XPERIA Z - DO NOT EVER BUy THIS PHONE.... I pre-registered to Sony Xperia Z in February ... moreDear Mr Khan1234, thank you for this valuable feedback, I was attached with Sony for some time and then I purchased Vivaz and had some service issue and it took more than one and half month for them to repair the set but they never agreed to replace the handset and that was my end of Sony. Seeing all the comments and hype with Xperia-Z , I was slightly tempted as I am planning to change my good old Samsung but many many thanks to you for again opening my eyes.
I want to ask can I use soap or other shampoo to wash my Xperia Z or it will damage it???
SONY XPERIA Z - DO NOT EVER BUy THIS PHONE....
I pre-registered to Sony Xperia Z in February prior to its arrival to the market on 28 February.
I have been duped in, I understood soon after having my hands on the handset that it was a deception, marketing trick I fell for.
In the very first week, handset stopped working, all function tools froze, especially when I am on the phone call function buttons mutes, I could not END the call even when I removed Sim Card (unlike iPhones this phone turns itself off/on when removed/insert the simcard) the call still goes on for another 2-3 minutes then turn itself off. In other words to make a 10 SECOND its about 4-5 minutes procedure that I had to follow.
Other issues I had to faced I could list down as follows,
• Internet service did not work (tried with the guidance from technician from Vodafone all possible reasons – did not work)
• Battery would drained too quick in several hours (also used in stamina mode)
• Camera quality to poor
• Sound quality was poor too.
Some of the factors I may be comparing with the quality of Samsung Galaxy S series and iPhone 4s and iPhone 5 as I used them for long time.
After chasing up a long replacement procedure it took me about THREE WEEKS to get a new one to replace: I was advised to updated on two occasions, then been accused of using a Sim Card not compatible of with the handset 3G/4G service, later handset wasn’t in stock for a while, then handset was sent to wrong address, etc, eventually I received a re-condition handset in different colour than what my initial choice (was black, but now white). My operator Vodafone was consistently blaming handling procedures of SONY. Unless they receive the handset tested and if the engineer agrees for a replacement then they replace it (and this procedure would last 28 days).
I posed a Question to Vodafone: What would you want me to the within those 28 days while I am waiting for my handset to be tested? Answer was an apology, they were only following Sony’ Guidelines…..
In the mean time I tried enormous afford to express my shocks and dissatisfaction of his product; there no way to get in touch with SONY – horrible customer service – I wander how they still survive in the market, probably – as being an old Sony brand lover can guess- they are using up their established brand name (when there was not much alternatives).
I have sent numerous emails, letters addressing number of different levels of Sony Corporation in the UK, Europe, and even in Japan. In response to my tens of emails sent to Sony I only receive a ‘no-reply’ generic/templates email responds stating someone will contact me soon, AND since then I have being waiting for someone from Sony to contact me regarding the issue. (it’s been nearly two months now – I guess they are still investigating whether worth to deal with the inquiry….)
I have also tried to contact SONY on the phone, managed to get through. I explained the situation, I received an apology. I complained about the repairing procedures, they reminded me of I am entered into a sales contract with Sony meaning that I accept companies policy and handling procedures too, so does not give me to have my say.
Any way back to my new replacement Sony Xperia Z, (changed from black to white one now).
When I am on internet a 100% full battery last about an hour (no way near around 10 hours as stated) and talk time is about only several hours (2G: less than 4hrs etc, haven’t tried 3G or 4G).
Obviously the problem still lies there But I gave up, waiting for my 12 month short-term contract to end,
D O NOT EVER-NEVER BUY SONY BRAND AGAIN…. (Especially Mobile Phones – because it is clear that they can’t make good phones, and they should leave this industry and go back to what they were good at)
The recent 4.1.2 update seems to have made some improvement to camera start-up, etc. However, the battery now sucks up juice at a fast pace. Overnight, I lost about 2%, now I lose 20%. If I chat on Line while using the phone as a hotspot and maybe bluetoothing some music to a speaker, I didn't even notice how much battery was being lost, not a lot. Now I lose 30% or more in an hour.
Once again, the Sony s/w team show how poor they are, letting the brand down...
In the time it took HTC to offer a 4.2.2 update that has been widely lauded and pushed the phone to a 5 star rating on this website, Sony have managed a second 4.1.2 update that has me wishing for the first time that I'd waited a couple of weeks and bought an HTC One instead.
The phone is good, feels nice in your hand, a quality product with a durable feel. The limited overlay by Sony is conceptually strong (better than HTC or the tacky Samsung version, imo) and works well. The functionality of the phone is strong. The hardware is good.
The software from Google is very good. Sony's software team's porting of said software to the Xperia Z is average at best.
Looking at the boards, I see very few complaints about the HTC One. I see plenty of complaints from Xperia Z owners; all software related.
eSHAN, 30 Jun 2013I m confused between Z and S4. Z looks very smart but phone configurations are better in S4. f... moreI would say SONY is running a scam in the name of xperia Z. I bought this phone 2 months ago and it was not working good from the first day. its getting so hot that u cannot even touch it, it freezes up and then goes shut down. Finally what sony is saying abt this phone is waterproof, but I would say it is the biggest lie, this phone is not water proof or water resistant, and when I went to the service center to get it fixed, the tech at service center told me that you have to pay 18000 rs to get it fixed. I am not rich so I cant pay 18000 at one hand and now I am feeling that I have been scammed by SONY. this is my experience with sony and I would not suggest any of my friend to invest asingle rupee in SONY. I invested 37000 rs through credit card instalments n again SONY is asking me to pay 18000 to get it fixed. it was my very hard money..

eSHAN, 30 Jun 2013I m confused between Z and S4. Z looks very smart but phone configurations are better in S4. f... morethe galaxy s4 has a better screen ,it uses super amoled screen with different screen modes, while xz uses the regular TFT screen.
the galaxy s4 still and video camera are better, more details ,less noise, and better low light performance.
the built quality of the xz is better but the galaxy s4 is smaller and pocket friendly.
u can read gsmarena comparison between the s and xz.
