Hello everyone, here I am with my experience of Xperia Z. Before that let me tell you that I have been using SONY for 6 years now. I have used almost all high end devices of SONY. All SONY phones are the best in world but this one is the DADDY of all. I love SONY for its looks, feel, UI, camera, natural colors and of course sound quality. I am using Xperia Z for a week now. I am a working guy, I have 50+ work mates in my office with almost all brand mobiles. And let me be very honest this device made everyone jealous by its looks and feel.
Let me come to the point now. I believe that every functionality of phone differs device to device or unit to unit. People here complaining about viewing angles, I compared mine with my office mate having Note 2 and guess what I won the viewing angles competition. Camera is perfect, sound quality is best. Guys screen colors are not all washed out, it’s just that you Samsung users are used to over saturated colors. Screen is simply best enhanced by Mobile Bravia Engine2. I never compare my devices to other brands, you see I have nothing to do with others. But I have a question to those who complain about the processor speed, are you running something that heavy that you come to the conclusion that SONY is worst in speed. I mean even 1.5 GH dual core speed is more than enough to perform or to use every application lying in Android market. I would again say that I don’t care what other brands are coming up with, but I love SONY and for me SONY is the best. Only issues I came up with are heating problem which is normal as there is no way to throw the heat outside the device and the major concern is flaps, its OK when you open the charging flap and put your phone on charging but I live in fear when I open the headphone flap to listen music and put my phone back in my pocket, flap hangs and can be detached any day from the phone. I have the solution for this too I will soon purchase NFC headphones from E-bay. Then I will not be having any issues with this beauty. Anyone planning to buy this and having doubts can go ahead and purchase this, you will never regret on this deal. Thanks
JingXiang Lim, 21 Apr 2013As for me I would not care about the 80% thingy~
But I'll care for the 20% or 15% as bottom-l... moreThen you need to understand how batteries like in laptops can't hold electrical charges anymore after a year or two.
Let's put it in laymen's explanation. There is a a bi-product substance that accumulates whenever you charge the battery cells. This substance will retard or lessens the hold of electrical charge. The more time the battery is plugged in, the more these regarding substances occur, the lesser the battery can hold electricity to power the device.
So, it's up to you charge your device to 100% every night. I do my charging with a timed adaptor, programed to cut the power in 1.5 hours. That's hardly any work involved there.
The advice the Android Guy has presented is the best and most logical way to preserve battery life and electrical load in the long term.
TheNeighbor, 21 Apr 2013As a matter a fact, I do maintain my battery charge between 20% to 80% - religiously. Why else... moreAs for me I would not care about the 80% thingy~
But I'll care for the 20% or 15% as bottom-line (Because it's what I do for years)...
If you read the comments below the video~
You can find it interesting...
If a smartphone battery hardly survive for a day with 100% for heavy usage, how bout 80%?
You will need to care for it every single time~
To maintain it between 20%-80%...
If a battery only charge to 80%, it takes less time to drain it to 20%~
In result of increasing the number of times plug and unplug the charger head...
And loosen the charging port of all devices occur~
This happened to my sis SGS2 because of charging it frequently everyday...
Can you replace the charging port like batteries?
Why so much fuss only to maintain a battery life?
You can bring it to service center and change the battery if it dies (Approx a year or two years once)~
It's wont cost you a lot of money and time...
But with the expert's method~
You are making yourself busy for 24/7 a year...
For laptops you can charge the battery till full or 80% as what you mentioned~
Then remove it and run via AC power...
No overcharging occur~
But actually there's no "over-charging" for smartphones too...
All modern devices will auto cut-off power when it reaches 100%~
Then run with AC power...
Why we need to charge batteries to the max for 8 hours before 1st use?
If 100% charging is eating the battery life~
The link above is rubbish then...
where can i try to request a earphone/internal audio volume boost at the upcoming xperia z software update.
it really sucks , sound is horribly low.
i have tried all kinds of brands of earphones , didnt change a thing
JingXiang Lim, 21 Apr 2013Okok~
Why you sounded so serious?
I was just sharing my own experience~
I nev... moreAs a matter a fact, I do maintain my battery charge between 20% to 80% - religiously. Why else would I tell you about the Android Guy's YouTube advice on battery optimization? Charging to 100% ever time will take its toll on the battery cells.
For those who missed the post, here's some real procedure on how to best maintain and prevent replacing your non-removable battery for longer than 2 years. Here's the link:
okay.I know this might sound stupid
Though it's a water resistant phone, but will it spoil if I soak it in the water too often?cause my one month old Z starts to behave strangely recently.it automatically shuts down (it happend once or twice) when I turn on the backlight and the screen blacks out for 5seconds when I launch the camera shortcut on the lockscreen(is it because I run it too often while taking pics when traveling?)and the phone does not give response when I press the power button to switch on the phone.(it happened once) then it switches on after several times of long presses.
Is it my problem or the phone's problem?
TheNeighbor, 21 Apr 2013There's a reason why you need to hold 20% to 80% charge for the battery, as he had extensively... moreOkok~
Why you sounded so serious?
I was just sharing my own experience~
I never refuse to accept the advice of the experts...
I'm just telling people what I had been doing and still maintained battery life~
I never say that the expert is wrong...
I never tried what the expert said~
So I'm not giving any comment about it...
Have you tried it before?
Tell people your own experience~
Don't just keep saying this expert and that expert opinion...
For experts' opinion~
We can search it in google...
For users' opinion~
This is the place...=]
He is just explaining what the experts do...
But never say that he experience it~
Just keep on saying he can change the removable batteries...
It's up to those users to try, experience it and confirm~
Never try never know...^^
JingXiang Lim, 21 Apr 2013At least most of the info I given was mentioned~
I even gave deeper info...><
The only... moreThere's a reason why you need to hold 20% to 80% charge for the battery, as he had extensively explained. This is to optimize and prolong the life of the battery cells.
This is the very concept why you see the latest laptops are designed to stop charging at 80%, to prevent from ruining the ability to hold better charge. Same concept for any lithium ion or lithium polymer batteries of any device as he explained. It's not a whimsical idea.
The Android Guy is an expert giving experienced advice. It's scientific. Care to explain your personal expert scientific battery handling?
i have a doubt....i have heard dat its screen is really vunerable...dropping it from knee height breaks it...is it true..??
There is a full screen caller id like a sony ericson w660i on display like updown scrol ?
TheNeighbor, 20 Apr 2013This is how you're suppose to maintain your battery, especially a non-removable type:
https:/... moreAt least most of the info I given was mentioned~
I even gave deeper info...><
The only difference is~
Charge till 80% and mine is charge over-night...
I had been doing that with my 5 years old phone~
Could my experience be wrong?
