core, 05 Feb 2013for samsung quadcore means dual core and octacore means quadcore....
The octocore in the up coming Galaxy S4 and Note 3, is actually a quad core processor and not a true octocore.
The only difference is that that use 4 larger cores for heavy processing while the smaller cores are for lighter processing. It's all about saving batter so you will have to charge less.
I like to see that some companies are at least trying to develop new and innovative ways to increase battery life. Someone has to lead the way, right?

very nice pic and very hot look and most important ...... in this handset sower and simple look
core, 05 Feb 2013for samsung quadcore means dual core and octacore means quadcore.... Very true
AnonD-86436, 04 Feb 2013m gonna sell my lenovo laptop and my Sony Xperia U ....for XPERIA Z :( :) :P....you know y sam... moreWhat?!! I think Samsung fans are just waiting for S4 to kick the Zs butt in April.
This is a nice looking phone, but its lacking actual new features
5-inch 1080p is standard for 2013 and they already did water proof last year so nothing new really.
sony needs to release a 32gb internal memory version, 16gb is just too small since i like to download games especially HD games and apps, and 16gb or should i say 13gb is not enough... its annoying to keep uninstalling apps/games because of not enough memory.
Sony..the leader of innovation..sony vaio..sony playstation..sony bravia tv..sony cybershot camera..sony handycam video and sony xperia
Just because u doesn't care so it does to anybody else? Minority? Like u mention it before? LOL! Btw still not talk about any others brand, product or etc etc, simply a smartphone(XPERIA Z) :D
Rooney-, 05 Feb 2013You know what? You ppl never come with technology. Lumia 920 is good built and you ppl say its... moreIt's still plastic none the less... Even if it's high quality plastic... Up against tempered glass it's like a child's toy
Why i am NOT waiting for Galaxy S4? I hate it already, just like i hate my Note 2. Sure Note 2 is a good phone, until you try to connect it to a PC. This is an old problem with Samsung, Kies dont work on lots of PC, and S2 and up has been troublesome in connecting as mass storage to Windows XP and Linux PCs, but at least it used to be possible. Now with Note 2 and the other new ones its almost impossible, you need a Win7 PC, now Linux and WinXP is usually a no go. This is unacceptable, it puts Samsung on the level of iphone with its itunes dependency.
I am from now on officialy against all samsung products, it does not work on my laptops, just like iphone with itunes will not work on my Debian Linux laptops. Content upload is a NO GO on Samsung. Xperia phones connects directly to any kind of Windows and Linux, and Sony PC Companion works on windows Xp.
A big win for sony.
What good is Galaxy S4 if it will not connect to my computers? Yep, its wortless. And i have this distgusting Note 2 to destroy my life here, a Linux user since 2004 and suddenly i have a phone that is incompatible with it? Worse than iphone.
Good phone, BUT, they've missed the boat by increasing the resolution by 50% but only increasing the screen size by a very small amount. 5" screen with 1080p resolution is utter nonsense, just doesn't make sense. I would have chosen this phone had it been a minmum 5.5" and ideally 6"+ especially at full hd. I may wait for the sony togari which will be 6.44" in size but if it is not released for the UK, I will take the Huawei Ascend Mate which is a 6.1" screen with 720p resolution. Let's hope Sony do not let me down.

how can be the primary company seal their product more expensive than company who buy their raw material from the primary company....
it's easy to answer .....
Good job's Sony...
In a few months, quad core CPUs, the 2GB of Ram, water resistance, 5''full HD displays, 13 MP HDR cams, will become standard specs for all flagships.
Sony will have them delivered by the end of the month, so anyone looking to buy a phone now, that has any less specs than that, knows that his choice will soon become absolete, a compromise.
Whilst investing at Z, you know that for the next couple of years, there is nothing this phone wont handle and it wont be able to look outdated.
For ex, someone buying a S3 now, will regret it, as in a year by know everyone will have a 5incher, full HD, 13mp water resistant beast. Esp the variations of 1 GB may be disqualified for the next software updates for hardware inneficiences. The latest games will be optimized for the Adreno 320s, the Nexus 4, Z and a whole line of flagships will have.
This is the next step forward, thats why at the moment it is a bit overpriced, but you know that you will regret if you buy a lesser compromise.
This is a double advantage for Sony, now they will benefit from the high premium market, they will force the competition to make rush decisions and when they field the competitors, Sony will already be the most recognisable force in the next gen line and they could afford to lower the price in a very competitive and temtive mark, without offering a significantly lesser performer, as the next phones, will not go past the 5full HD inches, 2 GB RAM and 13mp cams.
A fancier number on the CPU frequency wont have such an impact on the performance, certainly wont be the leap forward than Z is to the S3 gen.
And the most amazing job Sony did was with the software. This was their weak point, but now, the battery, the display, the camera all benefit important performance boosts because of the software, adding to that the edge of tech in hardware and the promise that the new UI is very light and simple, so that it can be easily tweaked in order to facilitate quick OS upgrades and you have a receipe for success!
Sony took their time, but they finally delivered!!
Dee, 05 Feb 2013It's on sale now but it costing AU$729! I'll wait for the price to drop down....or I'll wait for Samsung S4 have on offering when they announce on their release
