AnonD-220496, 02 Jan 2014In answer to the query re Android 4.3 - I refreshed the Update Centre and the option to upgrad... moreYou can go to the settings and change the keyboard layout...the one you want(with numbers on keys along with alphabets) is also available. I am typing this message from the same keypad..
I didnt buy this phone yet....still considering this or note3 or iphone 5s....cousin said that sony phone have short lifespan..any suggestion?
is anybody facing problems with the z1 like lte not comming up or over heating and high battery drainage??
In answer to the query re Android 4.3 - I refreshed the Update Centre and the option to upgrade to 4.3 appeared. It took about 25 minutes from start to re-start (I'm in Thailand - so may not be available yet in all markets). There was also some other system updates for the camera etc.
Only had my Z1 for a few days - but I'm generally impressed so far. I was looking at the Samsung Note 3 and Z1 and the 'official' reason for choosing the Z1 was that I wanted a waterproof phone so I can carry it on my bike and in the monsoon rains and at Holi and Songkran without messing with a waterproof bag ..... but the real reason was that I just liked it's solid, upmarket feel and looks.
By any logical assessment the Note 3 is a more advanced phone (more RAM, bigger, brighter screen, S-Pen) but the slight increase in size makes it a little more difficult to pocket and the pen seems to have limited use in practice unless you want to draw or can't type.
I wanted a decent camera - but the Nokia 1020 was out because it's not Android, screens a bit small and it's a bit fat! Most other options were out as I also wanted a removable micro SD card.
As a stylish, fast, good looking mobile it's great and the email capability is top notch as you can add bold or underline, change font size and add attachments all very easily so emails look like they've been sent from a laptop. Video play back also excellent and all my usual Apps run well.
Compared to the Note 3 the keyboard is not quite as good (less vibration feedback, more cramped, no numbers on the letters screen) but the rest of its operation is on par with the Samsung). I've seen some comments on the speaker - but it sounds loud and clear to me and the screen viewing angles are good - not sure why anyone would want to view a phone from the edge anyway.
Call quality is good and I've not had any of the WIFI reception or screen blank issues reported of some early phones. Battery life is excellent. So all good so far.
Then we come to the camera.
Yes it's better than most other phones except the Nokia - but only by a tiny margin. Noise is the main issue as well as a tendency to add strange shading to people's faces (also a noise issue) so I seem to have a permanent 5 0'clock shadow in any selfies.
There is more detail and a better dynamic range than a 'normal' mobile camera - but not by much.
I think the main issue is the hype from Sony about "the best camera". Measured on it's merits it's a fast, stylish phone with a decent camera (for a phone), nice screen and the benefit of being waterproof - but it does not excel as a camera phone.
If you expect it to only be slightly better than a normal phone in the camera department then I think you'll be delighted as it does everything else really well - but if you expect it to be a replacement for a decent compact camera then you may be disappointed.
I have a Z1 Mobile and I am in love with it.
I have a question guys, did any one of you updated the phone with 4.3 Android version? Because my phone is still not updating to the newest versions!
Is LMT Launcher going to work on a Sony Xperia Z1 if rooted?? I believe that it only requires root so will it work?? Coz I believe that we cannot unlock the bootloader for Z1 and this would probably not work if it also requires that as well.. One more reason I am asking this is because only Sony Xperia T is on the list of possible devices when you go to the LMT Launcher page and I am not sure if it will work if tried on my Z1.. Thanks in advanced!! :D
AnonD-220334, 01 Jan 2014Can somebody tell me difrence about Xperia Z and Xperia z1????Difference are:-
Z - Z1
#Z Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2, Othr hnd Z1 hs Triluminos Dsply..
Mmmm I thnk Z1 is da Bst.
haha Lol.. :-D :-P
AnonD-220334, 01 Jan 2014Can somebody tell me difrence about Xperia Z and Xperia z1????about their display z1 has a triluminous display, camera option, 20.7 mp. and also their speed (ofcours)
I just hate why sony would not change their display, they are always stuck to TFT display that sucks on angle viewing. I wish that they would change it to IPS because it would be the best bet for me compare to Amoled that has some problems.
AnonD-220334, 01 Jan 2014Can somebody tell me difrence about Xperia Z and Xperia z1????Improved angle viewing, IP58(Z1) compare to IP57(Z), Z1 has more software display enhancement such as X-reality engine, triluminos display successor of bravia engine 2. Xperia Z1 has better camera compare to Xperia Z, xperia Z1 is more powerful compare to xperia z due to its more newer chipset. Xperia Z1 last longer compare to Z1 due to more bigger battery 3000mah(Z1) vs. 2330mah(Z).
--- Other than that nothing else. :)
AnonD-220334, 01 Jan 2014Can somebody tell me difrence about Xperia Z and Xperia z1????Z1 is astonishing large for a 5 incher, too much, it has phablet size. And the added performance of Z1 is a gimmick, Z is perfectly smooth and you dont need more performance. Camera of Z1 is better but not blowing the Z out of the water.
Wait 5 days for Sonys expected announcement of Z1 Mini before making a decision, it could have an interesting price somewhere between Z and Z1. Other brands may also announce interesting phones during CES (January 7-10)
AnonD-220334, 01 Jan 2014Can somebody tell me difrence about Xperia Z and Xperia z1????You can use "Compare" to see the differences: http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=5596&idPhone2=5204 So Z1 has a better camera, CPU/GPU (better chipset: Snapdragon 800), 802.11 ac (1300 Mbit/s theoretical speed) standard Wi-Fi connection support, better LTE connectivity (Cat4 vs Cat3), better battery and etc. However Z1 cost a lot more (so you have to decide if you need higher grade features).
Camera is average, more a marketing style Sonny, I do not know what is a pale, when the camera is not anything posebnoo, the colors are washed out, from top class note 3, LG G2, and Z1, Z1 has the worst display a screen angles are poor disaster, annoys me to z1 bulky and hard to use software, sound, speaker, a bad lot of these, there will be situations that do not hear at all, I tried all 3 of the above mentioned phones, z1 left negative opinion, Sony has yet to poravlja things cumbersome software, sound volume, camera and better displays to embed
My wife decided to give my Xperia T to my son so got me a new Z1 for Christmas. Love it.
Just seems so much faster and brighter then the older T (as it should)with the waterproofing making sound a bit quitter overall. The range of sound is decent for such a small speaker set. The looks of the phone are simply amazing with the glass and aluminum feel. I haven't had any bad experiences with it yet, unlike the older T that I had to factory reset within a week of getting it.
