The big bezels are for strength, the thickness is for the big battery/big camera and the bezels on the top and button are I think also for the big camera!

I dont want a 4.3 to 4.6 inch HD phone, its better for me if they water it down a notch but keep the camera of Z1 and make it 4 inch 720p HD i could use as my secondary phone, that way the phone will be truly mini and a great option for pocketability, there simply aint enough space for a decent battery in a 4 inch phone packing a quad Snappy800.
Still, thats just me, seen from my perspective of using 2 high end phones at the same time. If i can have only one phone then Full HD is the more important factor (hoping the Z2 will already be ~5.2 inch and have 2560 x 1440 resolution in approximately same size body as Z1)
Can't wait for the mini version of this, I'm getting pretty tired of all the gigantic phones that are being shoved down our throats. The most important thing, of course, is to keep the same specifications and not water it down like Samsung did with its S3/S4 Mini and HTC with the One Mini, which were boneheaded moves.
The first manufacturer to truly come up with a flagship phone that's in a reasonable size that can be operated with one hand will corner the market and take away from the iPhone's share.
how's the temp of this phone when playing games and using the internet?
need a answer pls
Anonymous, 22 Sep 2013they made it huge so that it could accommodate the large camera sensor without making a bulge ... moreActually they made it huge to accommodate the big battery without the phone getting fat, as slimness is an important aspect in Sonys omnibalance design. The aluminum frame is very thick compared to the frame of Xperia Z, thus adding more to the size. However i am sure it will not feel big and heavy in the hand, 169 gram is still less than lots of phones i had before and i have not suffered from having phones above 180 grams.
Which version do you prefer ?
replaceable battery version
used and throw away version.
willboyce, 22 Sep 2013Love Sony, but these stupid little flaps on phones will become weak in timeMore than 6 months and no sign of flap problems on my Z. If you are so worried then charge only in dock. And Z1 has no flap on the 3.5mm jack, even less problem then.
