I think they brought this one before big z1 and as z1and z1large and z1ultra .
AnonD-199372, 24 Oct 2013screen size could have been betterIn what way could the screen size be better? I think (if people don't want those big 4.7" or 5.0" screens)the screen size on this phone is ideal. I also think alot of people will ditch their iphones to buy this phone.
This is perfect piece of hardware , hope will be well optimised with software to kill the rivals . Bring it on soon sony before November 15th . I will buy two I am rating this one over the lg g2 performance wise as this is most suitable pocketable size for skinny jeans and all also looks pretty.
ingold, 21 Oct 2013aww , with all of the specs like that i hope the price of z1 mini is below the htc one miniAnd of course you want a free limousine and Russian caviar and Dom Perignon champagne included with that? This is a one of a kind phone, the only true mini flagship, of course it must be priced close to the bigger flagships. Maybe $50-60 below the Z1.
Anonymous, 22 Oct 2013PPI does not matter anymore when you cross the 330ppi barrier as you need to hold the screen d... more"held at arms length"... Wow, the ignorance is off the scale here. If you need to hold your phone at arms length you are so far sighted that you are virtually blind at normal smartphone eye distances (when not wearing reading glasses). That's really a serious eye problem you got there, I doubt you could see the advantage of 150 ppi over 100, you must understand that its your personal problem and not everyone else? Even Apple in all their arrogance has defined smartphone eye distance to be 10 inches, about 3 times shorter than yours.
Anonymous, 22 Oct 2013PPI does not matter anymore when you cross the 330ppi barrier as you need to hold the screen d... moreDon't be ignorant, that's just your eyes, we cant let the weakest decide everything in this world, if you need reading glasses then go ahead and buy reading glasses and don't try to impose unreasonable restrictions on the rest of us.
440 ppi is a big and easily visible improvement over 330 ppi.

this phone is perfect! i hope it will sell worldwide, not japan market only
Chinmay, 22 Oct 2013I think as far as specifications and size of the Phone is concerned it is a good Phone. Now new... moreHi Chinmay, I agree with you. I think Steve Jobs was right. However only as an example I saw the DROID RAZR M with a 4,3" screen and a very thin bezel, so at the end it is about how well the phone is designed, so the dimensions are right. But here comes the problem. Who can define right dimensions? As I see people simply love big phones, I guess in order to have a better experience with the apps. But like you wrote the trend is changing. I think the xperia Z1 mini is more about showing the limits, because I simply do not see any competitors in this size category. I even doubted about the specs but they seem possible/real since the Z1f was announced in Japan. Samsung introduced the mini versions of its high end phones but only as a gimmick. I think the mini - name was linked to the poor hardware. Sony seems really to deliver a version in which the name mini is related only with the size. Now it is the turn of the battery industry. You simply cannot enjoy such a smartphone if you have to live next to a power outlet and I am afraid with small dimensions you will not get a proper battery. Greetings.
Anonymous, 18 Oct 2013I kind of agree with him, because of the new Sharp Full HD 4.5 inch display, that would be so ... morePPI does not matter anymore when you cross the 330ppi barrier as you need to hold the screen directly in your face to notice ANY kind of pixelation. Right now the focus needs to be on making the screens brighter, more power efficient and better colour calibrated.
At 5 inches 1080p does make a difference but on a screen size smaller than 4.5 inches I doubt there will be many people who would be able to discern the difference between 720p and 1080p when held at arms length.
The resolution race needs to stop now.
I think as far as specifications and size of the Phone is concerned it is a good Phone. Now new rat race has begun.Previously people wanted large screen Phone for overall Smartphone experience. Now trend is changed and people want small screens.I think Steve Jobs was right in saying that Phone's Screen shouldn't exceed 4 inches. If you want a Phone just for a Photography then it is better to buy DSLR than a Smartphone. You will just have to pay more rupees but you will get the finest results.
r, 18 Oct 2013buy a phablet please and there are many large phones in market available for people like u.Hi, I agree 100% with paxy. People who like phones around 5" have really a lot of options not only from sony. In my opinion this is the one which can really be considered a state of the art device, specially because of its size. I am afraid the fun will be ruined only by the battery, nevertheless I started today to put some money away, I think sony can make a fortune with this phone if it becomes a reality. Many specs really sound very high, but I changed my mind after the Z1f was announced. Greetings to all of you.
aww , with all of the specs like that i hope the price of z1 mini is below the htc one mini
Contract now up... do i wait for this (uk) or do i get the HTC One, with 8 month old tech....???
r, 18 Oct 2013buy a phablet please and there are many large phones in market available for people like u.I kind of agree with him, because of the new Sharp Full HD 4.5 inch display, that would be so perfect in this phone, then it would have best specs everyting, and it would not necessarily make it any bigger, maybe add an mm or two to the width.
Like it or not but the PPI of this phone is well below other flagships, and that's a disadvantage for everyone except farsighted people who deny that they need reading glasses (which seems to be all of them)
Issac, 15 Oct 2013Neat..but screen size of 4.5" plzzz!!buy a phablet please and there are many large phones in market available for people like u.
