They dont want to spend too much on just phones. Considering the tag "mini", it should cost at least $350. Least! Your point is correct about Apple and I agree on that.
But again, its still belonga to the rumour mill. We'll have to wait untill Sony launches it. Than we can further argue.

If they really wanted to release another flagship they should've named it Z2. I agree that these specs are of a flagship phone. Well this phone is still a rumour, so we'll have to wait and watch if it turns out to be a real mini or another flagship device.

This phone is gonna be amazing, it's gonna be the most powerful smartphone yet, due to (snapdragon 800 + adreno 330) running on 720p And it's 4.3 inches !!!!!! This phone is the whole package if you ask me. Hope sony keeps doing this.
AnonD-76058, 04 Oct 2013SONY please don't kill this little baby with some lack of good features he must have !
you'... moreSony and JPI can't yet use IPS on very small pixels, Z Ultra has lower ppi and therefore the pixels were big enough to make IPS possible. Also the Z1 Mini will have low ppi, they can make it IPS if they want to, let's hope they will.
LG has a similar problem, they could not manufacture IPS displays in Full HD with very small pixels, therefore they had to make the G Pro at 5.5 inches, and they then missed out on the 5 inch full HD party. Since then they improved their manufacturing tech and have managed to make smaller pixels on IPS displays but still not good enough, they are currently stuck at 5.2 inch. Sharp is the only manufacturer with the technology to make very high ppi IPS LCD displays, the display of HTC One is made by Sharp.

LED, LCD, IPS, AMOLED are in fact all part of TFT, all of them are TFT panel but with different technology, go google yourself understand the technology, kid.
SONY please don't kill this little baby with some lack of good features he must have !
you've killed 3 already:
1: XPERIA Z ( Poor screen, lack of camera shutter, small battery )
2: XPERIA Z Ultra ( Lack of led flash, lack of camera shutter )
3: XPERIA Z1 ( SAME Poor screen of Xperia z ? )
so pleaaaase sony make this baby with the same screen of Xperia z ultra
and the rest same as xperia z1, and it would be a little monster that gonna eat iphone 5s and S4 and HTC and Nokia, he would be like Bruce lee fighting his way to the dragon mountain
pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaase SONY :\

what about the IPS screen ?
way to go Sony !!! And about the screen, a good LCD will (at least for now) be better than any LED screen in color accuracy and way it shows White. If you`re no color-blind you will choose it.

If this Z1 mini is true, then Sony will be the first Android OEM that releasing a "small" flagship.
I guess Sony is trying to steal some customer from Apple as many ppl think that all Android flagship is simply too big for them like my sis who using iPhone 4s currently.
Just a perfect powerhouse and pocket friendly device.
With such awesome specs, Hope it packs a good battery.
SONY DOESNT WANT TO COMPROMISE ON THE MID RANGE SEGMENT HOWEVER.

i dont think that the informant provided is relevant as there should be difference between mini and pro like we can compare samsung galaxy s4 and s4 mini there is a lot of diffenece snd in this there is just less difference . maybe i think that it will be casting 5000 less that xperia z1
just tell me what is the diff between z1 and z1 mini except screen
This is exactly what ineed .. accept one thing missing is the IR as in Samsung S4 mini, but it is not that mutch issue.
Could any body tell us When it is launches ???
Must be a good sign to see this phone enter the most popular phones section when it's not even announced yet!
IF it comes to the Netherlands, I have found the replacement for my N8. (Now just to get my hands on one of those QX external camera's as well)
