I have one more question: Lockscreen notifications .. is there an out of the box solution Before Lollipop, that comes with the phone .. ? or only the 3rd party applications ..?
creme egg, 29 Dec 2014Thanks for the reply! I meant I didn't care about the fingerprint scanner of the s5 mini, but ... morewith Z1C you don't need to worry about lag, Z1C have Snapdragon 800 Quad-core 2,2 GHz and 2 GB RAM.
I played some hard game with full graphic setting and i never got lag / freezing.
If you don't care about gaming, i think you know what i mean : )

I meant I didn't care about the fingerprint scanner of the s5 mini, but it is a good point that the Z1C easily scratches/ gets dirty. Maybe a screen protector could limit this though. To be honest, for what I will be using the phone for, there is probably little difference between the two. I just want a decent camera, a phone that doesn't lag / hang randomly and something which is reliable and not gonna break after a couple months!

S5 mini or Sony Xperia Z1 compact?

Well you will if you get this phone, the shatterproof sheet gets very scratched and then the fingerprints get very hard to remove so you wipe it more and it get even more scratches and... The circle of evil.
In addition, the shatter proof sheet makes touch uncomfortable and inefficient. Do yourself a favor and buy a phone with tempered oloephobic coated glass, no more scratches and no smudges, basically it almost cleans itself. In other words, S5 Mini COULD be an option but it depends on your taste. One thing is for sure though, S5 Mini was not always a great option but with the recent slimming of TouchWiz and removal of bloatware the 1.5GB RAM in S5 Mini will do a great job performance wise.

About hard gaming and heating, i still can hold it. I use full graphic resolution setting in that game (no compromise) and aprrox 80% brightness display. You can reduce heating problem by reducing graphic resolution setting in that game + 20% brightness display. In my opinion, graphic quality is still good.
by the way i'm sorry if you feel i'm not a average user. I think you will happy with Z1C. This is a powerfull 4,3" android smartphone.
Good luck for you.

KA, 28 Dec 2014hi owners, I am planning to buy this phone, but i wanted to know about your experiences after ... more- Audio Quality: Good enough. But if you crazy about audio like me, you can add a high-end Sony earphone / headphone + Sony Hi-Resolution portable amplifier. No one in this world can beat it.
- Battery life: in my experience, 8 hours for average use. include gaming, music, proxy sensor app for smart case, chatting, calling, sms, wifi, browsing, download.
- Back: It easily smudges but easily to handle it, just add a cheap glare or matte screen protector.
- Call quality: Superb
- Heating problem: Just when you play a hard game.

S5 mini or Sony Xperia Z1 compact?
Which is more reliable? I think Z1 compact breaks a lot and has sudden death a lot? And random freezing?
Which has better camera?
Which has better screen?
Which is faster for browsing, facebook, reddit etc.
Which will last longer without needing an update?
I don't care about games, IR, fingerprint, heart rate etc.
So which phone should I buy?! Thanks!
hi owners, I am planning to buy this phone, but i wanted to know about your experiences after a while of use .. especially the below ..
- Audio Quality: incoming calls? putting calls on speakers?music Playback (through speakers and headsets)?
- Battery life: how long does it last on above average use .. ?
- back: how easily does it get smudges? metal objects like keys or even dust particles can scratch it .. ?
- Call quality: is there any network problem? sound clarity issues at the other side?
- is there any abnormal heating problem? like when you're typing of browsing .. or just the normal .. ?
thanks in advance ..
yuri, 23 Dec 2014If you need a compact / small / 4,3" size, go for Z1 Compact.
Z1C is the real phone size... moreSony Z1 Compact vs Samsung Galaxy S5 mini?
Z1 Compact is the winner.
Z1 Compact have more specs, more battery life, great design with metal bezel, and more affordable price.
Hi guys. Can you tell me how to fix the flash bleed issue? Mine is 14W11. And that is my only problem with z1c. Performance and battery is superb. Two thumbs up! ;-)
khalid01, 27 Dec 2014Hy guys how much time xperia z1 compact battery is taking to fully charge from 0% to 100%approx 2 hours
Hy guys how much time xperia z1 compact battery is taking to fully charge from 0% to 100%
z1 compact is a brilliant phone. camera is good, battery is very superb, it plays all newest games with no lagg. it has 2gb of ram. a very good screen with amazing colors. if you have 300 euros, then buy this phone :D. it's 10/10
nice look, good handling. sound quality is very good and also battery is good. 75% charging done in 30 minutes, only camera is not so good but ok.
Jreg, 23 Dec 2014.which is better..the z1 compact or the s4 lte-a???The S4 LTE-A has a very significant advantage in display clarity, and also slightly better camera with no flash bleed and most of all with a POWERFUL LED flash. The big downside of S4 is that the camera is often getting things wrong in non-optimal conditions but thats a well known old problem that affects all galaxy phones, Note 4 included.
If you have good eyes theres no way to be happy with Z1 Compact, the display is same as flagships more than 2 and a half years ago, thers simply noexcuse for that. If you cannot focus without moving the phone away from your face (ie if you are farsighted) it doesnt matter unless you use reading glasses but at that long viewing distance displays below 5 inches start getting very underwhelming to use anyway, so theres still a reason to go for S4 instead.
