1080p is quite over. it will kill the battery. wxga(1280*800 or 960) is enough. no 4k video recording?. the rest, specs are superb. 4.6'' is the right size!!!

Its simply not enough to comfortably read webpages in portrait orientation, and since i keep autorotate turned OFF i have no option to read them in landscape and anyway that would just result in constant scrolling, reading so few lines at the time is not so good.
People can of course choose display from their own eyesight but this is my eyesight, try it and see if its the same: On a 4.2 inch display i can go to the desktop version frontpage of tis site and read ALL the text when zoomed out all the way, full page width, in portrait mode. This is a great way top read a webpage on a phone since you rarely have to scroll but can keep reading without touching the phone. The problem for me is that on a 720p or 768p display this small text is so poor quality that i cant read it very fast, im in essence wasting valuable time in struggling with blurred/pixellated text.
This is of course not a problem at all on a 4.7 inch 1080p display and thats the only thing i love about HTC One M7. Some say the One M7 has too cramped/small display for a 1080p but for me its perfect, and at 4.6 inch 1080p the Z3c will be just as perfect, and best of all its a centimeter shorter than HTC One M7. Im gonna be VERY upset in 2 days if teh Z3c is not FHD, i really dont want to buy a HTC One M7...

For entertainment iOS is fine but for work, I still deal with a lot of email and for me to have to jailbreak the device so I can attach files (not links) to my emails is ridiculous. None of my clients enterprise networks will not allow email links from cloud services (Dropbox, Google Drive), In stock configuration the only file type that can be added are photos. Also, wireless printing is a mess unless you have a printer supported by iOS.
There are loads of other unavailable features but they are more of an annoyance than a deal breaker with iOS. Some should be resolved with iOS 8.
Full disclosure...I'm primarily an Android user but try iPhone every couple of years because I prefer a flagship device with a smaller form factor and I like the availability of accessories for the iDevices.
I disagree with 720p being unacceptable. At >4.5" screen 720p is excellent and provides a drop in battery consumption to make up for the phone's small size (i.e. smaller battery).
HTC M7 had not so good battery, so i find that battery life gains from using HD instead of FHD on a device the size of the Z3C to be far more practical than the unnecessary and subjectively marginal gains in sharpness.
FHD would be nice, but ONLY if it scores at least as well as the Z1C. The battery in this phone will likely be anywhere between 2200 and 2400 mAh, and i hope to see a GSMArena endurance rating of 70 hours. If it achieves this, this will be my end of the year present to replace my ZR :-)
This phone is what the iPhone 6 should have been. reasonable size, battery, great display, the only thing wrong is Android. Imagine this little beast running iOS, the battery would probably last 16 hours webbrowsing, charge every 3 days with heavy usage.
Oh well, i may still get this even if it has a terrible OS with a million crappy apps.
Anonymous, 21 Aug 2014Yes. A powerful pocket sized Device. For me the difference in thickness of 7mm and 10mm, 12... moreI don't think you will get an alpha pro but as leaks and rumours suggested the flagship of the "A" will be basically note 4 mini.
Anonymous, 27 Aug 2014I wonder about the dimensions. Eerily identical to the Z1c yet FHD pushing ppi to nearly 500? ... more720p is unacceptable on a 4.6 inch display for a flagship. You dont want Full HD but you do need 64bit or S805, wut??? You do not want things that help in real life but you want useless specs under the hood? Why would anyone need more processing power, its not like they will use a phone to calculate the total mass of the universe, and if they did im sure they would appreciate a clearer display as well.
This phone if it really is FHD is gonna have as gorgeous display as the HTC One M7, or actually even better (HTC Sense did something to destroy the colors on the M7).
All Xperia flagships supports 128GB cards since the Xperia Z. In fact all phones that support 64GB can also handle 128GB cards (and even 256GB cards through SD to uSD adpater). 32GB limit is different since that is a different file system.
Anonymous, 27 Aug 2014I wonder about the dimensions. Eerily identical to the Z1c yet FHD pushing ppi to nearly 500? ... moreYou want 64-bit processor but truth is that nobody needs that on a mobile device because all the apps on both android and ios do not have support for that.
About the battery live i expect it to be better because:
1. The battery will probably be upgraded
2. The screen and soc are more modern than the ones of the z1c so they should redce or at least maintain their" hunger".
PS: sorry for my mistakes but i am not a native english speaker
I wonder about the dimensions. Eerily identical to the Z1c yet FHD pushing ppi to nearly 500? Plus full HD will just pull on the battery harder. I am also disappointed that the SoC is only the 801. I want my next phone to be 64 bit. HTC just announced the first 64 bit phone and it is not even a flagship device. So take it from me. Unless you desperately need to upgrade or have dough to blow, wait for a 64 bit device. Also I want 128 GB microSD support. Ever since I got my 64 GB microSD for my Z1c I have been taking nothing but 16 MP pix. Luvin it!
Its possible to have these dimensions and 4.6 inches display... look at LG Optimus L9 II
How this possible having the same dimension with z1compact but z3 compact is 4"6 while z1 is 4"3? ?????
Anonymous, 21 Aug 2014Yes. A powerful pocket sized Device. For me the difference in thickness of 7mm and 10mm, 12... moreStrong point there.. would love to see samsung alpha to have sd slot and beefier battery
Anonynous, 18 Aug 2014I didnt get it, how is thickness a disadvantage? Z3C is considerably shorter than Alpha and wi... moreI don't care how thick Z3 Compact is as long as it has good speakerphone ( above Z1 Compact ) and they eliminate the plastic coating on Screen-
it should be a good candidate for no compromize Compact.
Probably fine tune the Camera Software and hopefully a strong Battery since it's non removable.
But I applaud Sony for still being the only manufacturer to make a true Mini Flagship-hope this becomes more popular and hope the speakers are great.on.this.
This phone is the same size as the Z1 Compact, except 0.7 mm thinner but it's gonna fit a 4.7" screen instead of a 4.3" screen now!
Can't wait for this to be released.
This would be my next phone.
Now I'm happy with my Xperia ZR. One of the best phone I ever use......
