Do not install lollipop on z3 compact. Battery drains much faster and the phone is always warm, even with minimal tasks such as browsing internet... I recommend staying in KitKat. Will be reverting. Wasted my time with lollipop.

I've had this phone for over 6 months and it has worked very well. It works very smooth. Battery life last forever. I haven't had any problems with the front or rear glass cracking. I have it in a slim hard plastic case which i bought from eBay for like $4. I've dropped it multiple times, including on cement, hardwood, and ceramic tile.

The back does get noticeably warm when running more processor heavy apps, but so far this hasn't damaged the phone.

I'm running KitKat and probably not going to update to Lollipop 5.0. I read that this OS has a RAM memory leak problem which may get fixed in the 5.1.1 version. I hope Sony updates it to 5.1.1. Has anyone who is running lollipop noticed this memory leak?

The phone is water proof, and I wash it under running water regularly without any problems.

The one major flaw for me is that it doesn't support T-Mobile Wi-Fi calling. This has to be baked into the OS by Sony or Google, according to T-Mobile. My last phone had that and I really miss that feature.

Fantastic spec & form - the main issue? To handle it, it's like a bar of soap, almost afraid to use it properly in case I drop & smash it. Literally an amazing phone but needs handled with the utmost care.

natalie, 30 Mar 2015I got this phone last week. And I'm having some concerns with the battery life and we after so... moreSnapchat is probably one of the worst application out there for battery life. It stays active even when you close it. You have to go in the Settings menu / Apps / Running tab, and then select Snapchat to actually close it.

I already posted a few things about battery life. I'm not a power user but I manage to get between 2 days and 5 days of battery life depending on the usage:
- Stamina mode always ON. If you still want some app to communicate in stamina mode, you can add them to a white-list. But it kinda reduce this feature.
- No useless or battery consuming apps (I don't have the Facebook apps for instance, but rather use the website through the browser).
- Remove every app you don't use / need / trust. Seriously, it's like on your computer. Don't install shit. You never know what these apps do in the background.
- If you can't remove an app, try disabling it (Apps Sony / Google forces you to have)
- I let screen brightness to about 33%. It's usually perfect, except when there is sun. You can change that quickly though the Quick Settings panel in the notification Area
- I don't have data on my cell plan
- Disable Wifi (and Data I guess) when you don't need it.
- Disable Location when you don't need it
- Remove the Flash light app you installed and is just a data mining app. There is already a flash light available in the Quick Settings panel.

For the glass cracking thing:
I have a screen protector (came with the device), and a case (Ringke Fusion), bought for something like 10$ on Amazon. This is an expensive phone. Why the fuck would you be cheap about a case that could save the device ?

Like I said in previous comments, I live in Canada and bike to work every day of the week, including winter. Temperature never cracked my phone even when going from -20C to 20C. Dropped it 3 times (with the case). There is not a single mark on it.

Never had an issue with the clap for the SD card, but I agree it looks kinda weak. I bought a specific charging cable to not have to open it.

Tried water resistant feature a few times. Still works like a charm. You have to let it dry a few hours after though, otherwise the mic & speaker won't be loud enough to make a phone call. The camera button allows you to take picture without using the screen, so it works underwater. It's not a fully waterproof phone though, don't abuse this feature of course.

About the update. I'm still using 4.4.4 which works like a charm. I don't think I will use Lollipop before some time to be sure it's worth it.

Why do you people think about buying this phone when you can have the Sony M4 Aqua (almost the same !) for half the price ?

If you are about to buy this phone, get a cover for it.
Back glass is too sensitive, mine cracked within two weeks when it was in my pocket. Otherwise its an awesome phone.

The Z3 C is one of the best phone I have used so far, recently it notified me that I can update to lollipop ( 5) only through a computer, I had a case where xperia z1 was updated through a computer and the phone crushed same application e. g front camera stopped working. My questions are, is it safe to update through the computer? are Sony going to make update through WiFi possible? what if lollipop have more glitches, can you reverse system back to kitkat? does updates vary from region time region?..posting from Kenya

Hi guys,
I have recently move to Lollipop (Russia). Mixed feelings. The battery life is about the same, in general the performance is also the same BUT the phone has become laggy. On KitKat everything was smooth and fast. Now it takes about 2 sec to close an app - really annoying. The idea with cards is also probably not the best one in Google minds. My advice is to stay on KitKat as long as possible if you are not crazy about your stolen phone will be hard to sell)).

For newbies about cracking - I paid insurence (10% of cost)listening these bul... I mean rumors. I really regret that I did it. Wasting of money. Best phone on the market!

Has anyone been able to move the applications to sd card. Even though the boxes are selected at the applications menu under sd card section i can see that the applications takes places of the phones internal memory.
