I think I will switch to Sony, at least it has sdcard slot, so far i had been quite faithful user of Samsung, pity like monkeys they copied the policy of iPhone and are losing loads of clients.
mas39, 02 Sep 2015Should have been at least 6" with a 4k display, would have still been around 734 ppi, als... moreNo time to wait... you'd much rather wait for the next 4K Xperia with the 820; nobody said it's not coming.
Alif Iqbal, 02 Sep 2015Xperia Z5 Premium lacks.....1) Because of having 4k display,it should have 4gb RAM.... 2) For ... more4K => 4Gig... what, it this some number matching game or something?
Anonymous, 02 Sep 2015The z5 premium having 4k screen is stupid because the normal Z5 will be faster than the z5 pre... moreBra, the GPU (which, in this case, is already optimised for 4K) manages the screen, not the CPU... a'ight?
Just an Opinion., 02 Sep 2015First of, everyone's amazed by the 4K screen and honstly, it's amazing considering we are talk... moreFor your information, lcd displays prove to be more energy efficient when compared with oleds while showing normal pictures at full brightness... I don't know about you, but I don't fancy having to turn my display off and only show a few pixels in the name of saving power... that's more like switching off your wifi and data connection to achieve the same, but the overall result does not translate to day-to-day enjoyment of the benefits that come with your phone. So the turning off of pixels argument does not hold in this regard.
As for the much-talked about IOS, well, I am not a photo fundi, so I shall reserve my comment until I have seen samples first hand.
And I haven't heard any complaints over the 810 heating thing, but in light of evidence of a 10-minute 4k recording with no heat issues, I would say they are almost there as far as that goes.
its very nice looking mobile i like it
The GPU might hande 4k with a bit of struggling; but the RAM won't be able.
It doesn't matter if it's 3Gb or 4Gb. The bandwidth matters.
LPDDR 4 used in phones is equivalent to desktop DDR3 in terms of performance.
Those 3Gb are shared beetwen gpu and cpu. All flagship phones have this issue:
The RAM bandwidth (speed) is insufficient for both - CPU and GPU. Even 1080p with ddr4 would have this issue.
=>When the RAM bandwidth is insufficient the CPU and the GPU will idle doing nothing but draining power and waiting for the RAM. In this phone 2Gb DDR5 would be the best. Or the gpu should have an dedicated memory (and there is no phone with dedicated gpu nemory). Otherwise; the delays beetwen gpu and cpu will be huge.
And gpus are famous for draining almost the entire bandwidth - and higher resolution=more bandwidth is required
Anonymous, 04 Sep 2015dude sd801 is one of d coolest CPU.. u cn use it at it's maximum clockspeed. it runs at 2.5ghz... moreBecause 810 has double 2X the GPU performance
Useless 4k screen. just wasting CPU power and battery. I have 40" TV with 4k resolution. I use it as PC monitor and is great. But 4k on a 5" screen? Even 2.5k is too much.
Anonymous, 04 Sep 2015Yes, but MORE people want devices that they can use single handed. This is the reason why Z1 ... moreWrong, a phablet is 5.5" to 6.99", a tablet starts from 7", so many manufacturers are releasing 6.8" phablets this year including Lenovo and Huawei. Sony haven't said they are ditching the Z Ultra, the compact was always running alongside. Look at the Z Ultra opinions and you will find so many people still wanting to buy it. If they don't make a successor then many of us, me included, will keep our Z Ultra and then move on to the 8" Z3 Tablet Compact. Anything less than 6.4" is small and not good enough.
Anonymous, 04 Sep 2015As much as I love Sony what is the point in 4k exactly? The only vids that are in 4k are self ... moreFamiliar with the term "upscaling"? If you checked out the specs diligently, then you've got your answer.
The 4k will drain the battery fast.
It doesn't matter if you play games or not.
There are lots of activities that require huge amount of GPU power:
-scrolling a web page or any list fast pushes the gpu at 80-100% of maximum power!
-Android OS very rich in animations: from the launcher, status bar, alert windows. Almost everything is animated! And yes; dragging the status bar really fast and repeatedly (+100 times per minute) will drain battery
-Rendering a web page is very gpu intensive (for some seconds).
If you don't believe that you are using the gpu intensively; then go to the developers options and toggle "GPU rendering profile"
For game it will be a total disaster. On a desktop even an nvidia titan x is struggling with 4k (some games with max settings go bellow 30 fps). And the titan x costed 1000$ not 60$ for the entire SoC.
And you don't need 4k. Stare at a Galaxy S4, S5, HTC M8 or any 440 ppi phone. Do you see any pixelation without an magnifying lens?
- You can go as close as the minimal focus distance; you won't see pixels. Closer than that your vision will be blured due to anatomical limits.
I doubt you need 800 ppi.
The camera is actually not that good as it seems:
-Sony equip these cameras with useless flash. In most cases it won't have too much effect at any distance >1 meter. The note 3 could push the flash at more than 2 meters;almost 3.
-High resolution camera=poor low light performance; especially when recording (you will use the same sensor after all. The Galaxy S4 records worse than the S3 due to the sensor resolution). 20 MPx is a printing resolution. If you don't intend to print the pictures; 8Mpx will be enough until the standard desktop display will be 8k.
Sony need to work on there Phone Design ,it looks just like an ordinary rectangular Brick .Not so stylish like Samsung edge !Samsung is spending lot of money on there R&D. Sony UI is also not Good ,Pure Stock android is better than this UI.810 processor has heating issue. I will not buy this Phone,I am waiting for Samsung Galaxy S7 with 4k resolution and 820 processor!!!
Anonymous, 04 Sep 2015dude sd801 is one of d coolest CPU.. u cn use it at it's maximum clockspeed. it runs at 2.5ghz... moreDon't you people understand? The display is being run BY the GPU, not the processor. Its the GPU that handles the screen resolution and graphics NOT the processor. In qualcomm's website it indicates that the Adreno 330 @550MHz can run QHD, and the Adreno 430 @620MHz can handle 4K. http://blog.gsmarena.com/adreno-430-benchmarked-trounces-adreno-330/. As you can see the Adreno 430 trounces the 330.
mas39, 04 Sep 2015C5 Ultra is not a successor for the Z Ultra, maybe you don't want a large phone but there are ... moreYes, but MORE people want devices that they can use single handed. This is the reason why Z1 Compact was a huge success when it was released, even more than Z Ultra. Only minority like you want 6+ Inches 'phone'. Sorry to say but 6.4 inch device can't be called a phablet :/. Phablets are within the 5.5-6.0" range. Looks like Sony ditched Z Ultra series in favour of Z Compact series.
Z5 premium has our country.
it's price $800
Anonymous, 04 Sep 2015the processor is too weak for such a resolution. has to Laging and baging . do not rejoice too... moreSorry but the reviewers who used the Z5 Premium begs to differ. They didnt notice the Z5 premium burning. I'm repeating this again, the Adreno 430 IS 4K COMPATIBLE.
Anonymous, 04 Sep 2015the processor is too weak for such a resolution. has to Laging and baging . do not rejoice too... moreSnapdragon 810 is 4K gaming compatible according to the maker's. https://www.qualcomm.com/products/snapdragon/processors/810. Adreno 418 (G4) running QHD provides same performance as adreno 430 running UHD/4K. Please get your facts right next time.
