It was very nearly fetishistic, in fact — he even had a collection of Sony letterhead and marketing materials. He wen’t on to say Sony was a company that Jobs instinctively admired and saw as model from the very beginning. So it’s been an interesting transformation over time, to see Apple supplant Sony as the center of the consumer technology universe.

Why you consider it as bad thing? and irrational overpriced underspecced compact as good thing. Try to think like smart buyer, not as paid defender.
Im certainly in favor of consumer, i dont need to think about apple, sammy and sony. They dont pay me

I would say their low end phones sells well, but flag section creates most financial losses, most is invested in r&d but poor sales due to lousy cost/benefit ratio ( no sd card, expensive bigger storage models) creates most financial loss.
The only logical conclusion is that s6 and note5 family are selling terribly.
They are just dissapointing, missing crucial features, and too expensive for what you get.
So yes, they are cutting the prices, giving them away for less, salvaging what they can...

In case if you were talking about the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact, then you're absolutely wrong. I don't see what's so old specced in that phone. At the time of release, it had the latest and greatest of Qualcomm. It still had best camera. Awesome battery. Fingerprint reader. All goodies you would expect in a flagship.
But no point talking sense to brainwashed trolls. I see you haven't replied to my previous comments, because you yourself know that you're points are invalid and pure BS.

Do you know what sony use for z5 series QUANTUM DOT TECHNOLOGY. It has the advantages of both ips lcd and amoled besides higher power efficiency than both. Google it out and even samsung,lg are looking for mass production of quantum dot displays.
Your comparision is nonsense. Most people look for real life performance not figures. Example is exynos7420 its scores are high but in real life it sucks. Cant load preference properly, rooting problems, not able to utilize cyanogen mod, thermal trottling...if i want to shoot photos in underwater i can click photos with z5c but s6 they die. If i want memory expansion i had a micro sd slot but s6 storage is restricted to 51gb( 128 gb is very limited and even stopped). If performance-and quality deserves that price then no issues of manufacturing cost. Do you had any idea about statical and marginal economics. If you had you would not compare z5c with s6.

Do i need to give you pizza ingredients? A package of best wireless(Wlan, fm, GPS, BT) costs only $10, no fm i guess about $8. While onother package like chasis(metal), sim slot, usb etc costs $30. Plastick one with full package including sd slot about $22.
And as i said before for lower screen, lower class RAM, they already save huge costs from s6. Now you which one is overpriced..

Don't compare z5c with s6. It depends upon the user. Some users desire compactness, beefier, elemental resistance, micro sd, radio, rooting expansion and many... But s6 can't offer these. Smartbuyers look for long term usage and Samsung is utterly useless in section. Even apple former ceo Steve Jobs said that Sony maintains and manufacture most innovative and quality products besides Nike and two other companies. Samsung is still overpriced even they use custom parts

That is why s6 abd note5 sales are underwhelming, who wants a phone that expensive, with only 21gb storage?!
