Hi,dear friends. This has been the year of superphondes or phablets!Nokia with 1520,samsung with note3,lg with lg flex, htc with max ,and sony with the Z ultera and some other brands! No doubt that ultera is between the higher in design, performance, features, size 6.44inches,cameras,wifis,cpu,nfc,and other ultera qualities! For those whom like perfect specifications,it must be a good option!Ofcourse to have a perfect understanding, please read gsm expertly written review of this beautiful giant before purchase!?Good luck with this beautiful masterpiece of Sony+thanks to gsm efforts to write facts morally and give us more true knowledge of understanding than those who give wrong information for just matterial reasons!?I have to mention that I know nobody in the brands but I research and study to write fairly!I,ll appriciate to be notified about any logical mistakes!?Thanks+good luck!
A have this thing for a week and so far I am almost happy with it. Big phone with big number of capabilities. A little too big to make long calls but I don't talk much. Most of it is great. Super fast GPS, great display, a lot of power in CPU and GPU, nice sound both from output and speaker (not very loud though because of water resistance), sensitive touch panel which accepts writing with pencil (very useful in some cases), Walkman player is also very well designed.
Unfortunately is has its negative sides. Battery can not be replaced easy (you need service support) and has more or less limited capacity compared to the large energy hungry display. No barometer for accurate altitude display in GPS apps. No flash for the camera. Last but not least the camera is poor. In the dark part of the day it is useless. With good lighting (even if it is the Sun) you get mediocre results. Noise is visible even at low ISO and details are low (at night you get no details at all) probably as a result of too high compression, badly written compression algorithm and/or a lot of noise reduction. The camera app from Sony doesn't have time lapse function so you need to install the stock Android camera app if you need this. Burst mode is slow at around 1fps. You can take 1MPx image while recording video which is some kind of joke. White balance has tendency to shift to blue which is too much in some cases with strong light in part of the frame. My Samsung Galaxy Nexus has 3 times faster burst and records 5MPx (max resolution for this model) images while recording 1080p video. It also has flash and makes night photos OK if there is some light. During daytime quality is good for printing if you want. White balance is yellow-green a little but not much. Compared both and the Nexus camera delivers visibly better images. It doesn't have HDR, image stabilization and so on but does its main job better.
Having this bought at Black Friday sale I don't complain much and I am serious about photography so when I want good photos or videos I bring a real camera with me.
Been using it for a month now. If you are a multimedia person and a gamer this phone fits for you. And the battery is very great
Overall its a good machine to have, My experience with it has been amazing!
Anonymous, 11 Dec 2013Oh yea? And end up with cracked screen unusable paper weight in no time at all. And not much d... moreCan't see why using your finger to draw on the screen would damaged it. A stylus is more likely to do some damage. In Thailand Mega is 13000 bahts and Z Ultra is 22000 bahts, not really the same price. Anyway Mega is the perfect size, Sony is really too big
Neo, 09 Dec 2013Which one is better ? Samsung Mega or Z Ultra ? Need opinion .in terms of processor and ram z ultra is much better, but when it comes to the camera , mega is mulc better, shoots better photos and much better video quality
no offence for xperia z ultra users and fans, but my Samsung galaxy S3 is shooting much better than z ultra, u can see it for u self.
Billy, 08 Dec 2013Don't you love those ugly huge black bezel ? Try Samsung Mega 6.3, half the price and much mo... moreOh yea? And end up with cracked screen unusable paper weight in no time at all. And not much diff in price anyway.
zeed, 09 Dec 2013mega can't draw, that's allOf course you can draw on Mega...No need for stylus, just use your finger on SNote or any other drawing app.
Martin132014, 03 Dec 2013Nope, z is 7.1inch thin but z ultra is 6.5 inch thin....so z is thickest..Maybe mm... not inch
Neo, 09 Dec 2013Which one is better ? Samsung Mega or Z Ultra ? Need opinion .Z ultra better with 1920x1080 res. and 2GB ram with 2.2ghz quadcore. if you just sms on your phone battery can last to 2.5 days
Neo, 09 Dec 2013Which one is better ? Samsung Mega or Z Ultra ? Need opinion .You will absolutely love this phone. I know I do. Also you can use your finger or any pencil as a stylus. This phone is not for the shy, it is an absolute attention grabber. It doesnt look like anything else out there, it is the Bugatti Veyron of phones.
wekwek, 02 Dec 2013you can use a pencil as stylus with this phoneYes, you can use a pencil as a stylus.
Not fully utilized the bulky firm factor for having the physical home key in the middle bottom and more and return keys at the sides. Instead these keys are not occupino the screen area. This would obstruct the screen as well as the function under some circumstances.
The color and the resolution are not comparible to Samsung, LG at the same rank. It's really pity for Sony as the come-back flagship model.
Anonymous, 28 Nov 2013can you move apps to sd card with this phone? Yes it supports micro sd card up to 64 gb. ibhave 64 gb micro sd card fully loaded. And it run smoothly without any problem..superb device...dt be part of croud.. Buy unique. Xperia z ultra..i really love ultra.
Billy, 08 Dec 2013Don't you love those ugly huge black bezel ? Try Samsung Mega 6.3, half the price and much mo... moreYup I love the ugly huge bezel on Z Ultra!! It helps me to hold the phone comfortable without touching the screen!! Why would i go for a plastic slow phone?? Z Ultra is blazing fast, thinner than any tablet and phone, water/dust resistance, equip with one of the most beautiful display, very good camera and beautifully crafted on a metal and glass.
