For those who need recomendation about buying xperia z and zl.I think xperia zl is lame compare to z. Ugly design no water resistance awkward front facing camera placement.these reasons are why it is cheaper.please don't buy zl.if you need a super phone just increase your budget for like $50 (at least in my country).just go and grab a xperia z in a shop near you.:-)
Just noticed in the pictures that there is a small yellow "OFF" button inside the ZL's small back compartment for micro SD & micro sim. What's that OFF button for?
Awesome phone.Feels amazing in the hand. This 9.8 thickness lies a lot , because it feels like it is 8 mm thick.Dont hesitate to buy this phone.

You are right. I should test it before buying. But I am also waiting for the S4 to see the price difference and in other words which one is more value for my money. The ZL is beautifully built/design and for a 5" phone it is the most compact in its class.Thank you for your comment and have a nice day.
im xzl user. just bought it 2weeks ago. any idea about app installation to sd card? plz help. thanks.
AnonD-133754, 21 Apr 2013battery consumption is NOT related to being an LTE or non-LTE variant, what matters is your co... moreWell, this is the rumor that’s been circulating around the web since the advent of LTE/4G capable smartphones. It seems that LTE’s super fast speed in data transmission is also applicable in terms of battery drain. I agree with you on this, I personally don’t think that LTE itself is the cause but rather it’s the smartphone’s continued search for LTE signal (in low LTE coverage areas) that caused the abrupt battery drain. I’m no expert, this is just my personal take on the issue. I think an LTE enabled smartphone though backwards compatible will try to connect to LTE where possible thus even if it has stable 3G/2G signals and is already connected to HSPA/HSDPA or EDGE, it continues to search for LTE signals in areas with low LTE coverage. Although it’s called a “Smartphone”, it’s not yet smart enough to know when to switch or stay connected between signals to conserve battery life, of course unless you manually disabled LTE. LTE is not widely available yet and most don’t have LTE yet (my area included), unless you have strong LTE coverage in your area, it makes more sense to just stick to the HSDPA version. WiFi speed is comparable to LTE if not faster so WiFi makes a good alternative to LTE if you missed the speed.
iSJ5, 21 Apr 2013But the viewing angle of the ZL is awful. I think this issue with regards to viewing angle depends on personal preference. Some prefer a wider viewing angle mostly for showing off while others prefer a narrower viewing angle for privacy. I personally don't understand why anyone would want to share viewing on a smartphone, if you want to share viewing, then connect your smartphone to your flat screen TV via a micro USB MHL to HDMI adapter cable or thru NFC if you have NFC enabled TV. Moreover, screen quality just cannot be fairly measured in a video or in a picture, better check out the phone personally in your local retailer and judge for yourself.
Yes, Xperia ZL Review is coming, thanks GSMArena, I'm expecting this to nail it's brother except the obvious waterproof feature :)
Bought this phone. Best phone ever from Sony.
They are back and with a bang Xperia ZL.
Hey Sony! !! Is your xperia zl battery consumption will be match to htc one, remember htc one has almost 10 hours of Web browse and more than 10 hours of video playback. I like the compact size of your xperia zl with big display but doubt about your battery performance.
iSJ5, 21 Apr 2013But the viewing angle of the ZL is awful. Here we go again with the viewing angles! I own the ZL and the viewing angle doesn't even bother me a bit (do you want to show what you are typing to everyone around you? at the same time while playing a video i have found that none of my friends standing around me complained about the viewing angles)...This is the best smartphone out there for guys who want a 5" phone. I was stuck between choosing the Z and the ZL, went to the store and checked out the both of them. The Z may be water resistant, but the ZL is a lot more compact and all feels really nice to hold because of the textured back. The battery is amazing for normal usage, but playing games or browsing continuously drains it out pretty quick. Thats the one thing i didn't like about the phone. Other that that its aces!
XroidZ, 21 Apr 2013The cheapest price here in PH for the Xperia ZL C6502 is P22,500 from widgetcity and kimstore.... morebattery consumption is NOT related to being an LTE or non-LTE variant, what matters is your coverage... pls note that the LTE variant is backwards compatible, meaning in the absence of LTE coverage, it will connect to either HSPA or HSDPA or even to as low as EDGE... but if your area has low coverage for ALL these technologies, that has a big effect because the phone continues to do searching and the process involves strong transmit power from the device until it senses a stronger signal....Also, if you are a heavy user, then expect your battery to be drained in about 8 hours or less.... but if just on standby with the stamina mode active, you'll get longer battery life.... usage is directly proportionate to battery life....
dilip, 20 Apr 2013zl have a video call option if have how its create
I have xperia here is not have any option ... moreWell xperia phones doesnot allow direct video calling unlike most Nokia or other brand phones..
your best bet is to use video calling apps from play store like skype ...to enjoy video calling but catch is that the person you are calling also should have the same app installed...
braps, 18 Apr 2013dude where did you get your ZL? was it from kimstore? your reply will be very much appreciated. The cheapest price here in PH for the Xperia ZL C6502 is P22,500 from widgetcity and kimstore. YugaTech recently had a review of the Xperia ZL and were impressed by how efficient the Xperia ZL is in consuming its limited battery resources. They reviewed the non-LTE version, so LTE probably does have a negative effect on battery life.
I'm gonna get the non-LTE version as LTE is not available yet in my area.
