Just got the G1 white yesterday. The outlook is beautiful! But as someone earlier had said, the quality feels a little cheap and might fall apart very easily. And since I have used the iphone before, in my opinion, the screen is not as responsive as the iphone, but it's fine to use. All the other things are great. Great online speed and fast searches. Still playing with the new features, very satisfied. Would recommend. ^^
IMPORTING CONTACTS FROM SIM CARD TO G1:
There should be contacts on your si card first.
Click on the contacts and hit the menu button. Click on settings, there you will see the sim contact importer. Click on it and it will sync the contacts from your sim card to your phone. very simple eh! NEVER say it CANT be done if you DON'T know how to get it done :)
I am in a position to replace my current phone, is this a bad time to change my handset, is it worth me waiting until the new year, do manufacturers release new handsets in the the new year?
I'd hate to buy the G1 to find its replaced in January with something amazing!
What to do?
soo, 06 Dec 2008just tried this phone today~ very surprised with its touchscreen~ lol~ this is another best to... moreG1 is the first phone made by HTC that uses a touchscreen technology called capacitive, which creates electric field from corner to corner. Once a finger hovers just enough barely touching the screen, that is enough to draw current from the electric field and causing drop in voltage. The end result is that it is much easier to touch an icon and get a response without REALLY putting pressure on the screen like other HTC model. iPhone and HTC gPhone are the two phones that I know of that use this technolgy. BTW, by definition of capacitive touchscreen, the screen is made of glass, since plastic does stabilize electric field as well as glass can.
just tried this phone today~ very surprised with its touchscreen~ lol~ this is another best touchscreen phone after iphone.. thought HTC cant produce a nice touchscreen phone like iphone but this G1 have proved that HTC can make it~ haha~ but why i cant felt the other HTC WinMo phone as smooth as this G1? thinking is it actually not the hardware problem but the OS problem?
Hopefully that Andriod able to install in other HTC phone to prove what i am thinking~ haha~ cheers~
Does anybody know when 3g is going to be nationwide for T-mobile?
hi everyone i got g1 today i am getting used to it, how's the bettery life let me know thanks
My Friend has this phone, let tell you that it does not feel cheap at all, it feels expensive. Solid! I have an iPhone but I do love the feeling of this phone. Everything about this phone is nice, I would have taken this if I knew it would be this nice. But I bought the iPhone 3G 16G way before this came out.
Disadvantage? No Ear Hole. That is bad! But other than that, a beautiful phone.
iPhone still beats this though, no hate.
Well the design is a bit bulky and sturdy. but the os is mind blowing.i think it is high time htc uses this software in their phones as it would change the way ppl review htc or any other windows mobile phone. the operating software in G1 is user friendly and the touch interface is as good or shld i say equal to the iphone.
If HTC you r reading this please shld have used andriod os in Touch HD
tmobile guy, 01 Dec 2008Horrible battery life. Not as fast as everyone thinks. Touchscreen sucks. I mean sucks bad....... moreTmobileguy... The G1 is alot better then the Iphone. Stop being a hatter and sign up with Tmobile
Did you guys read the news the next iphone is going to run on android OS. So any1 who's say Android G1 sux, then why does the iphone hav to use android OS then....Explain any1?!....
Did you read about the constent net usage, even with data roaming turned off?
Is someone spying on its users?
T-Mobile G1 is a very good phone for entertainment. If you work demands long hours or boring you can keep yourself busy with it the Mobile phones
yes there is just put your finger over the clock and hold and a trash can will come up and drag it to there....the whole background is pretty much like a desktop
I've had mine for about a month now and I still marvel at its abilities. It takes a little getting used to at first because it is a whole planet away from most mobiles. The thing which makes this a great piece of kit is the Google suite of services and operating system. When you take delivery of the phone, you only have to put in your google identification and the phone is immediately synched with your computer. All your address book, calendar, and email is on hand. (If you don't have a google account then you have to get one and import all your data from whatever other system you use. That takes about a minute) The keyboard is brilliant and far easier and faster than touchscreen only phones. Maps are instant and that's not even using the GSM. With that turned on you can't get lost anywhere. I can't believe I lived so long without internet in my pocket. I often have had to demonstrate it to mates and it always impresses. Side by side with an i-phone, the G1 is way faster and switches applications with ease. Also data input is much quicker because of the keyboard.
Downside. The battery life is terrible at first. Mine is getting better now that it has been charged several times but expect to put the phone on charge every other day. The keyboard lights are a bit dim and if you are old and your eyes are going a bit...well you know the rest. Other than that I am delighted and glad that I waited around for it to arrive. The other phones I auditioned before going for this were HTC touch Pro, i-phone, LG Renoir, Samsung something or other, Sony X1. There was no contest really, this won hands down.
Touchscreen sucks??? Have you ever worked with it?
Oke battery life is not good, just set it to 2g only and it will last for 2 days, i don't mind charging it every night if i have to. Your asleep... So what is the problem. Touchscreen is the best i ever yussed after iphone's touchscreen. OTA software updates, just marvelous!
Got my G1 for 2 weeks. Sure, the battery doesn't last long, but who cares? I bought another battery for 6USD :) If it's low on battery i just charge it with USB at work, charger at home and car charger in the car. One battery holds for 2 days if you don't watch youtube, minimize brightness and turn off GPS.
This phone is great! Those who do think iPhone is better - don't have any idea what opensource means :)
If battery life means that much to you - buy SE. If you need stylish phone - buy iPhone. If you need a gadget with UNLIMITED possibilities - G1 is for you!
wen will another android phone come out. the g1 is not that gud. seems as tho google launched it too early and were not ready.
Horrible battery life. Not as fast as everyone thinks. Touchscreen sucks. I mean sucks bad....sometimes hard to get to main menu... If your thinking of using a pda type phone...go iphone.. ive tried all and keep coming back to the best. oh yeah and mms's rarely send.
