T-Mobile G1 is a very good phone for entertainment. If you work demands long hours or boring you can keep yourself busy with it the Mobile phones
yes there is just put your finger over the clock and hold and a trash can will come up and drag it to there....the whole background is pretty much like a desktop
I've had mine for about a month now and I still marvel at its abilities. It takes a little getting used to at first because it is a whole planet away from most mobiles. The thing which makes this a great piece of kit is the Google suite of services and operating system. When you take delivery of the phone, you only have to put in your google identification and the phone is immediately synched with your computer. All your address book, calendar, and email is on hand. (If you don't have a google account then you have to get one and import all your data from whatever other system you use. That takes about a minute) The keyboard is brilliant and far easier and faster than touchscreen only phones. Maps are instant and that's not even using the GSM. With that turned on you can't get lost anywhere. I can't believe I lived so long without internet in my pocket. I often have had to demonstrate it to mates and it always impresses. Side by side with an i-phone, the G1 is way faster and switches applications with ease. Also data input is much quicker because of the keyboard.
Downside. The battery life is terrible at first. Mine is getting better now that it has been charged several times but expect to put the phone on charge every other day. The keyboard lights are a bit dim and if you are old and your eyes are going a bit...well you know the rest. Other than that I am delighted and glad that I waited around for it to arrive. The other phones I auditioned before going for this were HTC touch Pro, i-phone, LG Renoir, Samsung something or other, Sony X1. There was no contest really, this won hands down.
Touchscreen sucks??? Have you ever worked with it?
Oke battery life is not good, just set it to 2g only and it will last for 2 days, i don't mind charging it every night if i have to. Your asleep... So what is the problem. Touchscreen is the best i ever yussed after iphone's touchscreen. OTA software updates, just marvelous!
Got my G1 for 2 weeks. Sure, the battery doesn't last long, but who cares? I bought another battery for 6USD :) If it's low on battery i just charge it with USB at work, charger at home and car charger in the car. One battery holds for 2 days if you don't watch youtube, minimize brightness and turn off GPS.
This phone is great! Those who do think iPhone is better - don't have any idea what opensource means :)
If battery life means that much to you - buy SE. If you need stylish phone - buy iPhone. If you need a gadget with UNLIMITED possibilities - G1 is for you!
wen will another android phone come out. the g1 is not that gud. seems as tho google launched it too early and were not ready.
Horrible battery life. Not as fast as everyone thinks. Touchscreen sucks. I mean sucks bad....sometimes hard to get to main menu... If your thinking of using a pda type phone...go iphone.. ive tried all and keep coming back to the best. oh yeah and mms's rarely send.
Anonymous, 30 Nov 2008is there a way of getting rid of the clock? To get rid of the clock, just hold on to it for a few seconds and then you drag it down to the bottom of the screen where you will see a trash can. Just drop it in there and the clock is gone!
apparently there is another phone that uses android. but im not sure if i shud order 1. the site lets u customize ur phone (kinda like a laptop) but the price seems too gud to be true.
How come that there is no review in gsmarena for this phone?
Dude... I just don't get!
i think android will b gr8 to use but not the g1 phone itself. is it possible to run the android OS on another smartphone eg: htc hd?
had the phone 4 a week it sucked allways froze 1 hr batt life didnt want 2 do what i wanted
i got jipped, the phone has no back door cover when i opened it. and i called in and told them it's not in the box and they said they won't give me another one, and wanted me to buy a new phone =(
No bad fone only prob is the stupid bluetooth! They made the same mistake as Apple did with the iPhone the bluetooth is practically useless, i can't listen to my music with a stereo headset and i can transfer files! And finally a for for T-mobile in the US w/ 3G but they still don't barely support it on their network.
i have the g1 and found out that when you are not using internet to switch to 2g which saves you life on the phone
Anyone unlock this phone and use prepaid? I dont' need 3G cause my university has wireless all over the place...
