works great on rogers.. you just need to change the APN, and no you dont need a data plan, i dont have one and i receive and make calls fine...
Anonymous, 19 Nov 2008do you need a data plan for this phone? I only want to use wifi as I dont want to pay for a d... morejust spoke to Tmobile and this phone REQUIRES a data plan.If none is purchased it wont even make or receive calls they say.
Its long time awaited ... at last good to see the phone out.... Just waiting to catch hold of one. Going by specifications ... hardly anything missing from the competitors ... All in all seems to be a good phone...
I own a T-Mobile G1. It's easy 2 use. I recommend to everyone who want to buy the G1.
I like all the features on the G1 i think they could of made better looking.
do you need a data plan for this phone? I only want to use wifi as I dont want to pay for a data plan. Also, will it work with Rogers in Canada (I only ask because even if it unlocked, the phone will still search for T-Mobiles network, so is there a way to turn this feature off as I don't want to pay for mobile internet anyways)
I am a ATT customer, i actually signed another contract just to get this phone. Have it for 3weeks today. and its the best investment i have made. Great phone, great apps. looking forward to a lot more with this open app OS
had it for a week, evry time i find it is missing something useful from a previous phone, the application pops up on android market. there are most probably better phones out there with better o/s or better screens or more apps, but i'm struggling to think of anything i would trade this in for.
i need some help guys, right now i have an n95 8gb and i was wondering if it worth buyng this phone or if it is better than the n95??? because this phone seems nice but ive heard some bad reviews about it........
I Havent got the g1 yet but hopefully i will get it for xmas umm i was just wondering can you use the
internet abroad in europe also is it out in the uk now and is it in tmobile and carphone warehouse shops or not
peo, 16 Nov 2008It's all well and good having one to "mess around with" but try using it on a day to day basis... morei have used it in a real life situation as i got one through work and i find it easy to use, im also studying mechanics in college so im not just messing about with it in the office !
and as for the sliding mechanism ? its made from titanium so how could that be cheap !
I have found this phone to be pleasurable to use. It fulfilled all my desires that a piece of technology possibly could.
Anonymous, 17 Nov 2008What is the difference between US G1 and UK G1?There is no difference between the USA and UK G1 as far as hardware is concerned.
Software wise, there is nothing different either, other than the fact that I heard a USA G1 will have access to the USA Android Market and the UK G1 will have access to the UK Android Market.
I have a USA G1 using it here in the UK and I have no problems what so ever. The good thing is, when OTA updates are available, a USA G1 gets them first :D
UK recently got the RC8 update but I got the RC30 update about 5 days ago now.
There is no difference between the 2, just that RC30 is for the USA and the RC8 is for the UK.
BrOdA, 12 Nov 2008Is there any chance to switch on G1 without creating account on Google??No!
You must have a Gmail account else you will not be able to use the device!
In my opinion, Gmail is the best free webmail out there and I think everyone should have one. If you dont want one then just create one (very easy to do with the G1) and then you wont need to use it again.
After that, you can use the email client to set up your preffered email.
Anonymous, 12 Nov 2008looks good but do it have stylus for touchscreen? yup i know its motion touch phone but just a... moreNope, no stylus as nothing but your skin will work. Not even your nails will work! Just your finger!
This is a good thing as it is very finger friendly and in most cases you only need to touch once and not 2 or 3 times as you do sometimes with resistive touch screens!
Anonymous, 15 Nov 2008i work for t-mobile and i can easily say this handset is excellent !
they gave us a few to ... moreIt's all well and good having one to "mess around with" but try using it on a day to day basis.
I am fairly confident that if you took it on the road for a few days instead of sitting in your office "messing with it" your opinion would change.
When i was sitting at home "messing with it" in the beginning i thought it was brilliant, I could even overcome the design flaws such as the chin making it slightly awkward to use the keyboard, and the clunky, slightly cheap feeling of the sliding mechanism, But once i got into the real world and started using it as a phone and business tool instead of as a toy, Then its Flaws became even more evident !!
I think it is what it is.... A TOY FOR TECH PEOPLE SITTING IN AN OFFICE MESSING ??
