The Google Pixel 5 will reportedly cost $700, $200 more than the Pixel 4a 5G

Google Android Rumors

We know that the Pixel 4a 5G will cost $500/€500/£500, Google has officially confirmed those prices. But it’s keeping the Pixel 5 price under wraps. How much difference can there be considering that both are Snapdragon 765G-powered devices with seemingly the same camera setup?

Leakster Jon Prosser puts the price of the Pixel 5 with 128 GB storage at USD 700. Evan Blass claims that the phone will be CAD 900 in Canada. This lines up with the Vodafone Germany leak that priced the phone at €630 (note euro prices change slightly between countries due to different VAT).

The Pixel 5 will have a 90Hz display (6.0” 1080p+ panel) while the Pixel 4a 5G is expected to stick with 60Hz panel (larger 6.2” panel also with 1080p+ resolution). The 5 will probably get more RAM and storage as well as a better chassis (aluminum vs. plastic, IP rating, etc.), perhaps a few other details will be different as well.

That’s still not much to justify the $200 premium. Both new models will be unveiled next week on September 30.

PS. Another detail from Prosser – the green color from yesterday will be called “Sage Green” instead of “Mint Green”.

Removing the zoom lens is the biggest loss here If the 5 had the wide, ultrawide and at least a 3x zoom lens it would be a decent buy. Personally I'd rather there was a 4G version available too, even if it had to have last year's SD855,...

Quite true. It's simply beyond anyones commonsense. Even fly by chinese firms have better sense of design and consumer requirements. Its also ridiculous to think that they will release a higher end with 6" screen size and a lower end with 6...
