Xiaomi Redmi Android Rumors

Xiaomi quietly launched the Redmi Note 12R Pro back in April, a CNY 1,800 ($250/€230/₹20,500) phone with the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1. But there was no vanilla model – until now. The Redmi Note 12R (23076RA4BC) just appeared on the China Telecom website and, interestingly, has a better chipset.

It hasn’t been confirmed, but the phone’s SM4450 chip is expected to be branded “Snapdragon 4 Gen 2” when it is unveiled by Qualcomm. It is allegedly fabbed on a 4nm Samsung node (instead of 6nm TSMC for the 4 Gen 1). The phone can be configured with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB storage and there is a microSD slot on board.

The carrier also listed some other key details. The 12R is equipped with a large 6.79” FHD+ display (so it will stand a head taller than the 12R Pro and its 6.67” display). The camera is fairly basic with a 50MP main module and a 2MP helper (the Pro isn’t much better in this regard).

Additional details include the size and weight – 168.6 x 76.3 x 8.17mm and 199g. This is with a 5,000mAh battery on board (the charging speed is TBA). Besides the USB-C port, the phone also has a 3.5mm headphone jack.

According to China Telecom, the Redmi Note 12R will launch in China on June 30, which could make it the first device to use the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2. Here are the prices in China:

RAM/storage Price in USD (converted)
4/128GB CNY 1,100 $153
6/128GB CNY 1,200 $167
8/128GB CNY 1,600 $223
8/256GB CNY 1,800 $250

The phone will be available in three colorways – Midnight Black, Sky Fantasy and Time Blue – the latter you can see in the images shared by the carrier.

Performance is just one reason why not to consider the A54. However that's not the worst thing about that phone, the worst is the front, which is what you would look at the most. Bezels straight out of 2017-2018 and even then budget/entry level ...

A phone that lags right now is going to be even worse after those few years than the phone that is smooth right now. With the release of the Poco F5 that is right now cheaper than the Galaxy A54 and has performance comparable to last year's...
