The XPERIA Play gets previewed again, game emulator tested

Sony Ericsson Android Touch UI Rumors

The first in-depth preview of the Sony Ericsson XPERIA Play hit the net a couple of days ago but there’s another one - chock full of size comparison photos and some early Sony PSP Go game emulator tests.

The Sony Ericsson XPERIA Play is roughly the same size as the Sony PSP Go but it packs a much higher-res screen (854x480 vs. 480x272) and much more processing power - a 1GHz CPU with 512MB RAM and powerful Adreno 205 graphics (vs. 333MHz CPU and 64MB RAM).

The Sony Ericsson XPERIA Play sized up against the PSP Go, Nintendo DSi and some droids

Of course, emulated games probably won’t see much of an improvement - their graphics were designed for the slower hardware. Still, the Sony Ericsson XPERIA Play will play new Android games too (it is a Gingerbread droid after all).

Reportedly, there will be a game store but not much details are available on that - will it offer just PSP Go games or exclusive XPERIA Play Android games?

Anyway, a third-party emulator was tested and roughly 70% of the games worked smoothly while the rest had some issues. There’s still time to work out those issues - the Sony Ericsson XPERIA Play still isn’t official, despite the available early previews.
