As we told you yesterday, the update to Android 5.0 Lollipop for the original HTC One sold by T-Mobile was supposed to start rolling out tomorrow, as an HTC exec announced. But it looks like the Taiwanese company decided to surprise owners of the One on T-Mobile, since the rollout was actually started today.
Several owners of HTC One units bought from T-Mobile in the US are reporting having received the update already. As you can see from the screenshot on the left, the download comes in at a pretty hefty 729.59MB.
After applying it, you'll be running build number 7.18.531.2, powered by Android Lollipop of course. The new Lollipop UI style will be immediately noticeable, most clearly in the lock screen, notifications, and Recent apps showcase. A search function has showed up in the Settings menu too.
Some unnamed bug fixes and enhancements are present in the update as well, HTC says. If you have an original One bought from T-Mobile and it hasn't yet notified you about the update, it should do so within the next few days. The rollout is probably staged, as these things always are. But the new software is now on its way to you regardless.
