Apple iOS Jailbreak Untethered A5

Chronic Dev Team and iPhone Dev Team have updated the greenpois0n tool for a successful untethered jailbreak of the iOS 5.0/5.0.1 running iPad 2 and iPhone 4S.

The solution is reportedly called corona jailbreak, due to the use of pod2g's corona exploit, and has been really hard to concoct. We did catch a glimpse of an iPhone 4S with an untethered jailbreak a couple of days ago and were expecting to finally see the solution in real life.

Here's a link for the updated greenpois0n tool but keep two things in mind - it's only working on Mac so far (Windows version should be in soon) and the greenpois0n website is down currently so you won't be able to find any information until it goes online again.

The iPhone Dev Team assures us as soon as the release is bug-free enough, it will be included in RedSn0w too. As for carrier unlock the Dev-Team blog suggests that 4S owners stay on iOS 5.0 if possible or iOS 5.0.1 (9A405). Those on 5.0.1 (9A406) should find a way to downgrade their base bands to 5.0.1 (9A405).

Update: The Absinthe A5 jailbreak is available for download for both Mac and PC users over at Greenpois0n. Try it now but read the instructions first and more importantly back up your device before going through with it.
