Today vivo took the wraps off its latest creations, the X20 and X20 Plus. The X9s and X9s Plus are only a few months old but we already get newer, shinier members of the X family to gawk at - and they do contain almost all the bells and whistles you'd expect from a high-end smartphone in late 2017.

Full View, near bezel-less screens with 18:9 aspect ratio? Check. Dual rear cameras? Check. As usual with vivo's X line, the main differences between the normal model and the Plus option are to be found in display and battery size - most specs are shared.

The vivo X20 sports a 6.01-inch 1,080x2,160 Super AMOLED touchscreen, and comes with a 12 MP f/1.8 main and 5 MP secondary rear camera setup. A 12 MP f/2.0 selfie camera is on the front, while the fingerprint scanner moved to the back because it couldn't fit elsewhere what with the tiny display bezels and all.

At the helm we find Qualcomm's upper-midrange Snapdragon 660 SoC, with a 2.2 GHz octa-core CPU - and this seems to be the one aspect keeping the new vivo handsets out of true flagship territory. 4GB of RAM come standard alongside 64GB of storage, and the X20 has a 3,245 mAh battery. It runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

The X20 Plus has a 6.43-inch Super AMOLED panel of the same resolution, and a beefier 3,905 mAh battery to go with that. The X20 measures 155.85 x 75.15 x 7.2 mm, and weighs 159g, while the X20 Plus comes in at 165.32 x 80.09 x 7.45 mm and 181.5g.

Both phones will be up for pre-booking on September 25, with sales starting on September 30. The X20 is priced at CNY 2,998 ($454 or €381 at the current exchange rates). The X20 Plus will cost CNY 3,498 ($530 or €444). Both models will be offered in gold, rose gold, and black. As usual with vivo devices, it's unclear if or when they will be officially sold outside of China.

Xiaomi Mi Mix is not the first bezelless phone in the world but Sharp Aquos release in 2014 is the first bezelles phone. However Xiaomi Mi Mix is the phone which make the bezelless concept popular in 2016.
