Vodafone Spain gets BlackBerry Pearl 8110 with GPS

Blackberry Vodafone

The BlackBerry Pearl 8110 has the typical BlackBerry looks and has GPS navigation functionality to aid users on the move no matter if they are on foot, or on transport. The Blackberry 8110 is not the most feature-rich device around but will surely please the Blackberry addicts.

The BlackBerry Pearl 8110 main selling point (beside the almighty email service) is obviously the integrated GPS receiver. Combined with the Vodafone GPS navigator service, it becomes a nifty little gadget. The Pearl 8110 comes with a one-year free subscription to the service, which based on the Telmap Navigator solution offers turn-by-turn voice-assisted navigation, real-time map updates and a rich catalogue of businesses and points of interest. There are two packages - “Iberia” and “Europe”.

RIM reusing blue Blackberry 8120 for their black Blackberry 8110

The rest of the equipment is pretty standard one – a 2 megapixel camera, stereo Bluetooth, microSD/SDHC memory card slot, a standard 3.5 mm audio jack and finally, an office documents viewer.

You probably have noticed that BlackBerry Curve 8130 offers the same feature package through Vodafone but has a full QWERTY keyboard while the BlackBerry Pearl 8110 comes with the proprietary BlackBerry SureType one.

You can tell that RIM are not putting much effort into differentiating their products, as they even reused the product shots of their blue Blackberry 8120, while in the same time announcing that the BlackBerry Pearl 8110 will be available only in black.

Anyway, both devices don’t feature Wi-Fi, but are available with unlimited data plans from Vodafone. If you desperately need the Wi-Fi and you are being your own Blackberry unlike corporate users, you may also check out the Wi-Fi-enabled BlackBerry Pearl 8120 and the Wi-Fi/GPS combo the BlackBerry 8820.

The BlackBerry Pearl 8110 is already available with a EUR 89 price tag before taxes along with a BlackBerry data plan and a “25 Ma's” (25 More) voice plan.
