Following the release of iOS 12.2 earlier this week, today Apple is making watchOS 5.2 available for its smartwatches. The most notable thing about it is that it's bringing the ECG app and irregular heart rhythm notification to 19 countries in Europe as well as Hong Kong.
Here's the full list of European countries graced with the honor: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the UK.
You can take an ECG reading on your Apple Watch Series 4 at any time, and the recordings, their associated classifications, as well as any noted symptoms are securely stored in the Health app on your iPhone, from which you can share a PDF of the results with your doctor.
The irregular rhythm notification works on Apple Watch Series 1 or later. It occasionally checks in the background for signs of an irregular heart rhythm and if it detects it on five checks over a minimum of 65 minutes it will alert you with a notification.
