Microsoft has revealed that, according to market research firm NPD, the Xbox One was the best-selling gaming console in the US for the month of July, surpassing Sony's PlayStation 4. The news was revealed by Xbox Marketing head Aaron Greenberg on Twitter.
It was October 2015 when the Redmond, Washington-based company's gaming console last topped charts in the country. But overall, it's mostly Sony's PlayStation 4 which has been dominating the US market.
However, that doesn't mean the Xbox One hasn't been selling well - in fact, December 2015 was the best month for the console. Also, in January this year, Microsoft revealed that the life-time sales of the console stand at at-least 18 million.
The spike in July sales can also be attributed to the Xbox One deals and offers that Microsoft offered ahead of the Xbox One S release. It's worth mentioning that the July NPD report isn't yet publicly available - it will be released sometime next week.
