Xiaomi Android

Xiaomi has certified a new 55W fast charger at CCC (also known as 3C) and prolific leakster Digital Chat Station is suggesting it will make its way to Redmi phones, as well as Xiaomi flagships. The power adapter’s model number is MDY-12-EQ, which is an evolution over previous bricks, and it will support the fast-charging rate with 11V at 5A.

Xiaomi has a wide range of power adapters that support plenty of new and old standards. However, so far we’re yet to see a Redmi flagship with anything over 33W - currently, the Redmi K30 Ultra is the leader among in-brand peers.

Even the Mi 10 Pro only does 50W charging, although it does ship with a 65W charger. The new one means we could either get a more compact and efficient solution with the next flagship or an small bump to 55W charging and the brick to match it.

At any rate the arrival of the 55W charger suggests we are about to see the company take another step in its fast charging rates.

Great reason to take MIUI with caution. The hardware is great but the software is a joke.
