It seems wireless charging will be one of the frontiers to make a big leap in 2020 and Xiaomi is aiming to be in the lead, bringing speeds that some makers still can't do over wired chargers. Xiaomi Vice President Chang Cheng took to Weibo to tease the company’s upcoming 40W wireless fast charging solution and the results are quite impressive.

The test used a modified version of the Mi 10 Pro with a 4,000 mAh battery and the new wireless charger managed to top up 57% of the battery in 20 minutes and reached a full charge in just 40 minutes.

The actual prototype wireless charger in the test is tipped to pack a vertical air-cooler so it can keep thermals in check. At the moment Xiaomi’s top wireless charging solution - Mi Charge Turbo tops out at 30W. There is still no word on when the new version will come to the market but it's safe to assume it will be on a flagship Xiaomi phone.

It got cancelled because of the charging coils not matching the advertisement where you can put the phone, watch and the airpods at any angle

I would be actually surprised if this type of chargers gets any international certification whatsoever. The rumors said that the Apple wireless charger was canceled because of excessive heat and radiation above allowed.

Doesn't matter, charging automatically slows down after 70-80% upto 100%.
