The details are way better than a 12mp camera. Even if you don't like the software processing of the picture, there's Gcam, which can significantly improve the night pictures.

For the 2 years on Sony and Samsung have paraded ever increasing pixel count for the quad bayer sensors, but the pixel size has remained 0.8 micron, i.e. the color filter cell has remained 1.6 micron. It's as if the technology could not miniaturize the color filter down to 0.8 micron, so they had to resort to quad Bayer gimmickry to get by. Now comes a "true Bayer" 48MP sensor by Omnivision, and lo and behold, the pixel/color filter cell is 1.2 micron, which is the typical size before all this pixel-binning nonsense started.

Sony barely managed 400k units out of the 700k phones in Q1 2020.
Mi 10 ultra simply ahead in every department and available at an affordable price.
You clearly hate Mi and other Chinese brands.
Just admit that you don't like Mi.
If Samsung and Apple launched a phone with similar specs, they'd be charging 2000$ and you won't be complaining there.

Someguy20, 11 Aug 2020My guess would be £800 in englandYou miss the point, for European Market most development countries you have to pay extra 200 Eur for customs. Immediately makes you wonder 900 Eur on line payment you never 100% sure that you will receive it at home.
Not to mention no local store for warranty issues.

You'd argue that China is the hub for mobiles nowadays, and getting it shipped from there will make no difference to its functionality anywhere around the world. The downside is the lack of the 4G B20 frequency band which is a dealbreak for me.

Auto is what most people prefer.
While Mi 10 ultra giving great camera quality both manual or auto.
And professionals wouldn't touch Xperia phone for their professional work.
They'll use Dslr for their manual mode photography.
The pixel clicked as good images in Auto mode as Xperia 1 II after all that time consuming manual tweaking. These tests were done by several YouTube reviewers.
Xperia 1 II being Marketed towards professional photography was just a marketing gimmick that failed.
