This phone have a custom rom android 15. Lineage os and LMODroid. I use lineage os and the dev still updating the rom. Even security android patch is on january 2026. Thank you dev, still making this device alive

The most concern is battery i ended up buying one from china (hard to find this model in malaysia) but unfortunately bootloader is locked and i cannot unlock it— my fault for assuming it would come unlocked since they flashed global rom on it haha. it's pretty smooth though and the display is gorgeous, also love the size. i got the 4/128 variant and the battery can still last about 5 hours, good enough for me

I still use mi 5 too but not as my main phone. Just playing psp emulator and watching netflix (the display is soo good 😊)

This phone rocks Android 14 through lineage 21. Couldn't believe my eyes to see it booting up on the latest android. The CG4 glass is really really weak tho. The most weakest glass I've ever seen. Battery is shit but I don't know how this one just doesn't die.

Since 2017 until now (2024) everything is still working but the touchscreen is dead (mid 2023) even though the screen is still good. just replaced the battery and cable once.

I gave away my Mi5 only last year. Camera is still good. I only change battery 3 times(well first time was a crappy battery). I believe if only Xiaomi supported it with newer version of android i'm not going to change phone till it got destroyed.
It serves me well. I hope the new owner is taking it well.

A lot of finance/bankin... moreI'm on Pixel experience ROM, android version 10, and all my applications (Google wallet, banking apps) are working properly. I just installed the ROM without any root access or magisk.

this phone is still very good. just give it an 8000mah battery and you can disable the thermal. otherwise you have 30 minutes of battery life

Changed the battery, and changed the OS from MIUI to Lineage. Wow.
A lot of finance/banking apps won't work. Wish we can still lock bootloader with Lineage.
