Will the sim card slots be standard size or will they be micro-sim size?
Anonymous, 03 Feb 2016It looks more like a samsung phonestill now no one knows what is exactly look like..above pic is from androidauthority.com
I personally like the decision to go with a 1080p display instead of a QHD one. You are still getting over 400ppi on a 5.3" screen which is more than enough unless you plan to duct tape the device to your face (hello VR). I wish they would have gone with an OLED panel tho.
Xiaomi Mi 5 will only use 1080p display. No QHD. This has been confirmed by Senior VP, Liwan Jiang. Good move indeed.
Quote: "The company’s Senior VP also mentioned ‘Black Screen Technology’ which will, presumably, also be a part of the Mi 5. Now, we’re not sure what Xiaomi’s Senior VP meant by ‘Black Screen Technology’, but we’re assuming he’s pointing towards an OLED panel, or something of the sort. As you all know, OLED panels provide great contrast, and have deep black colors."

Bob007, 26 Jan 2016just google why phones are coming without sd card ,you will get the real answer and performanc... moreActually Hugo Barra (VP of International) explained it recently and it has nothing to do with "speed" per se. Nor about Xiaomi not wanting to compromise performance. In fact, in the Redmi 2 and Redmi 3 line of devices some contain SD card slots.
Android prior to the "M" version lacked integrated support for external storage and thus the OEMs had to "add" SD card support back into their versions of Android. Android M will return that support and the OS will treat external drives/cards as internal storage.
The reasons given for the absence of an SD card, in the MI 4, and in Xiaomi's flagships were, their design/engineering team didn't want to sacrifice battery capacity, ergonomics, appearance and space for a 2nd SIM (MI 4).
Bailey, 24 Jan 2016Why would they do that and its a bit silly to ask for it. its like me buying an Apple phone ho... moreLast time I checked Apple doesn't run Android, so no, your comparison does not compute.
We are talking about bringing a different release of the same OS the phone already runs, a marginal investment that would improve sales.
Sure, I can buy the other brands that are supported (which I do).
The point is, I thought Xiaomi was in the business of selling phones, therefore they should be interested in understanding what would sell more units. -- Cyanogenmod would and it would cost them very little to do so.
