mr, 18 Mar 2019Does MI 9 has Dynamic AMOLED screen ?mOLED and super mOLED has little difference super mOLED also attached some extra sensers in it. I just read it somewhere.
so the unlocking process is snitching more and more. even the PC app calls home, and unlocking fails because you dont have phone number added to their account. omg this is so bad.
once i fake all my private data, i will then GDPR-ask them to remove it.
looking for note9 replacement (too heavy).
testing mi 9 after returning 6t once mi 9 hit the stores featuring QC4+ and QI Ultra (at least something for samsung users).
i root device without ever booting original ROM, quickly protecting stuff with XPrivacy.
but this is not possible here.
this xiaomi phone is very privacy invasive. it sticks their account onto you, stealing all important data like IMEI,IMSI and wants to touch contacts, call logs, calendar, and then even wants to confirm the holy phone number by SMS! That is something i dont give away to any app (but IMSI is equally terrible) and is permanently hidden even without root. These chinese snitches want it straight away. And then you have to wait 2 weeks (to expire the 2 weeks return period) to get unlock?
so i am operating in covert mode now, putting different person SIM card, swiftly disabling Find my device and Cloud, hoping unlock will be still possible. when it's over will rip xiaomi stuff off the phone.
some first thoughts: very fast face unlock but not working in low light - they dont light up the screen to help (Note9 couldn't recognize face in dark even with infra); fingerprint is fine, not so fast but completely acceptable however many 1st attempts dont work and have to release the finger and place it back; battery is dropping fastw/out sim card, hopefully this is not a sign of future drain; slim and light for 6.4; lot of gestures; very complex settings; Pie gestures again modified, every manufacturer seems to corrupt the basic concept; it's fast and snappy, +75% OS benchmark vs Note9 can be felt; love DXOMark on this; screen looks uniform and bright as hell, just like on samsungs needs just very low brightness in room; etc
Where can I buy it in the us

I brought MI9 about a week now. I really love it. the OS in MI9 is great. Camera is perfect on taking picture. Before, I worry about the battery of 3300 mah, but after use about a week, the battery is very good. Full charge could be use the whole day and still remain around 30%. I recommend MI9.
no headset jack? omg
Battery 3300 is not the problem, but No card slot is a little bit problem for me to consider use Mi9.
No card slot ??? Omg!!!
Rich, 19 Mar 2019It may be only 3300 mah but the software optimisation and the efficient snapdragon 855 make it... moreNot a 4000mAh, more like a 3700mAh.
Ashfwaq, 19 Mar 20193300 mAh is not enough now a days....disappointed It may be only 3300 mah but the software optimisation and the efficient snapdragon 855 make it have basicaly the same performance as a 4000 mah phone.
Ashfwaq, 19 Mar 20193300 mAh is not enough now a days....disappointed You have youtube full of videos about battery drain.... Its not far behind S10+ maybe 10-20 minutes, leave Note 9 in dust. 3300mah is just numbers, you can't say is bad if your phone has bad battery life. Inform first than write... Watch videos than write. Stop doing stupid things, this phone is half the price of other flagships you can't expect everything that other flagships have. They made awesome job, camera is awsome, got fast charging (27W), fastest wireless charging (20W), pretty good display, fingerprint under display, SD855, memory is pretty big, no need for MicroSD, you just pay little more for bigger size memory, it will be still 300-400$ cheaper than other flagships, it have awesome EIS, INFORMMM MORE THAN COMMENT
3300 mAh is not enough now a days....disappointed
AnoM, 18 Mar 2019As long as it is equipped with flagship processor, then it is actually long lasting regardless... moreThanks a lot for clarification
mr, 18 Mar 2019Does MI 9 has Dynamic AMOLED screen ?AMOLED will be just AMOLED, anything add on on the screen name are just marketing.
Super AMOLED, Dynamic AMOLED, Optic AMOLED, are just marketing term, all are AMOLED.
But the subpixel arrangement of Samsung's AMOLED and other brands AMOLED does differ slightly.
There are also speculation saying Samsung's AMOLED screen are higher quality than others in term of brightness and color.
Does MI 9 has Dynamic AMOLED screen ?
Fadiko, 18 Mar 2019I know but these specs for both phone are truley great but what I need is a performance and lo... moreAs long as it is equipped with flagship processor, then it is actually long lasting regardless of brand.
Honest comparison is, Huawei Mate 20 Pro is the fully featured smartphone, almost as good as Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus.
Xiaomi Mi9 is the budget flagship of 2019, which cut corners on many thing.
Of course from day to day normal usage, both are good in performance. The price difference only made sense for extra features.
Huawei Mate 20 Pro has IP68 rating, reverse wireless charging, 40W fast charging, maybe better camera, bigger battery size, curve screen, 2K resolution, support USB type C to HDMI.
Lacks 3.5mm jack.
Am a bit of a diehard but I still tend towards those OEMs who keep the 3.5mm jack. While BT is adequate, having to use adapters, or find a pair of USB-C earbuds, is a big takeaway for me.
Although the cost would rise, I would like to see Xiaomi use higher resolution display for its flagship(s) and higher-end devices. (personal preference). Additionally prefer IPS over OLED but those days are waning.
Not a MIUI aficionado but fortunately Xiaomi has toned down the iOS type mimicking. I'd rather see a more straightforward Android but unless you go with a Google Pixel you're stuck with OEM's adaptation.
Cool photo sensor setup (triple-rear, 20mp front) with 1080p 960fps slow-mo vid.
Overall, decent specs for a SD855 device at a cost far lower than the competition. And Xiaomi tends to be more open about BL unlocking.
thanak, 16 Mar 2019camera have no stabilization so sad Actually it has EIS. It's just not listed here in the specs. There is no OIS, however, used to stabilize in low-light photos which, may or may not, be an issue depending on the overall camera sensors/image processing setup.
Of course, EIS provides stability during videography.
