something doesn't add up. Mi 9 lite is now available for purchase on xiaomi website (italy at least), and it costs €399 (>$400). Does the price here need update?

mi9 lite camera :imx586 better than samsung gw1
The only pro on RN8 pro is the HDR option available on pubg, but if this option is enabled... be prepared for overheating after 1 hour of gaming !
Custom roms are often available on snapdragon (after unlocking your bootloader) : GSI, pixel experience, lineageOS ... With MediaTek, you will stick with MIUI forever !

does it have build in call recorder in call dialer, as prevorious xiaomi had?
Thanks.global version (mi 9 lite) comes with google dialer. so no call recorder. mi cc9 (chinese version) comes with miui dialer (call recorder available in the app settings).
if you have knowledge on flashing roms with fastboot, you can still flash system.img from the chinese rom (fastboot .tar package not the .zip update)
Unlocking the bootloader is requiered before !

Thanks.Not to sure about this one, mine came form China and had Google phone on it but I put rom from xiaomi.eu and it has built in call recorder, it's great, try checking out some YouTube videos
