Nowaday ... moreNo. While you can get same shitty on-paper useless information everywhere, there are no reviews that would provide solid, in-depth analysis of all phone components - this is universal for all phones. And even on forums this kind of information doesnt exist. So you are basically buying potato in a bag. Thank god that all phone manufacturers are absolute noobs and piles of garbage, who cannot for the their life make a good phone, so major misdesigns/malfunctioning gets out really quick, and you know to not buy that phone (tldr, every phone).

Mark_S, 04 Mar 2019I wish US carriers would start making these phones compatible on US LTE bands....Wouldn't you think it is a better idea for phone maker to enable US LTE bands, rather than US carriers support additional bands?
Xiaomi unsupported US LTE bands is probably done for multiple reasons...need to modified/add antenna design, regulatory US FCC certification..etc Just like how Samsung has multiple regional SKU for same model.
