Pop-up camera still pops, battery’s a bit tired but still hanging on.

What a great purchase this was, the only thing is the degredation of battery, which happens to every phone, but other than that, it is flawless.

Bought this in december 2019, survived covid,survived pubg mobile, survived genshin impact and today september 2025 and this phone still kick ass. Still alive after all these years. Pop up camera can still pop up, battery downgrade a bit, get warm/hot to some apps, sometimes auto out from apps, sometimes had freeze apps but still this xiaomi mi9t still strong for using as daily secondary smartphone.

I have a Xiaomi Mi 9T since September 2019. My husband has it too. Today is January 13, 2025 and we have never had any problems with our mobile phones, everything works fast and perfectly just like the first day we got them. It has a beautiful, crystal-clear display that can still hold its own with any flagship today, it's great as a phone (the connection is always perfect and you can hear it clearly), and as a camera (it takes great pictures and videos). Only after so many years, understandably, the battery has weakened a little (but not much!), so now we charge them a little more often, but that's not a problem either.
I stopped by the GSMArena to see if the technology had advanced and if I could buy something much better after 5 years. The answer is: not really. Very disappointing. Screens on cell phones haven't gotten much bigger or much better (at least not for the average user, I'm excluding geeks), no one has invented anything radically new, just prices have skyrocketed.
We bought the Mi 9T primarily because of the beautiful screen, which is not marred by the hole in the upper part of the screen, because the selfie camera is hidden in the pop-up mechanism. Five years have passed, and to this day no one (not even Xiaomi) has produced a phone like that or without an ugly hole in the upper part of the screen (with the exception of ZTE Nubia and Redmagic, but that's another story). What a shame! Now it's 2025 and they haven't really come up with anything new in this regard, they're still making mostly the same, generic, horribly overpriced phones with ugly holes in the screen. Indolence, unimaginativeness and incompetence at work.

Bought it late 2019 as well. It was the first phone I ever bought for my self with the money i got from my part time job during my early college years.
The main reason i got the mi 9t is cause of the clean display with no notch or punch hole selfie cam, and the glass back design of the flame red version which is still pretty sick imo.
The glass back is still in good condition with no scratches even though I've dropped this phone a few times.
The pop-up cam still works perfectly and camera quality is decent.
It's not as fast as it used to be which is to be expected for a 5 yrs old phone, so before 2024 ends i went and got myself a poco x6 pro. I just hope the x6 pro would at least last me half the lifespan of my mi 9t.

I switched to Galaxy A52s in 2023 after using this phone for around 4 years bht sold because the battery was dying. I really miss this phone till date and don't like A52s. I am in love with Xiaomi Design but it seems Xiaomi is dead with both design and affordability.

bought this in late 2019s, and Today in late 2024s I'm trying to find this phone replacement because the battery is dying, but for REAL, this phone is so HARD to find the contender, not because by performance or camera quality, of course, but because how clean the screen is, having no selfie camera hole give you 100% no interruption in movie and gaming view, still has Audio Jack that connecting to IEM or audio car is effortless, built with full glass front and back and metal frame. and overall compact size.
I've dropped this phone for like 20x times, but no glass crack at all, just a minor frame dent and scratches. I believe the reason for this tank-like built is because this is one of a few phone that actually has a plastic "buffer" between its metal frame and the glass.
9T and 9T Pro is the PEAK of Xiaomi design, and 2019 was also a year where Xiaomi criminally sell so many good affordable phones that broke the market.
Hopefully someday Popup salfie camera or in display salfie camera is a trend again.

It takes excellent photos for such an old phone, far ahead of stock IMHO. You will have to try different configs and pick the one that works best for you, they produce very different results.
I am also very much grateful to the LineageOS team which still supports this phone and lets me run the latest version of Android on a five year old device. The only downside is there haven't been any firmware updates since 2021, but that's not something they can fix. Thanks Xiaomi and Qualcomm.

My main camera quality is so bad now. Dull, blurry. It irritates me. The motorized pop-up selfie still does a good job though.

Using this device since September 2019. Apart from battery drain issue, its still as good as it was on day one.
