More Android 11 bugs - Wireless screensharing to Smart TVs like Samsung and LG (using Miracast) is broken or no longer supported. Google's greed is forcing manufacturers to abandon the Miracast wireless screen sharing standard used by most Smart TVs. Google wants you to buy TV's with built-in Chromecast instead or buy a chromecast dongle so Google can monitor your viewing habits and sell you its own tv series/movie subscriptions. Android under Google is becoming like Apple's iOS. Greed, greed, greed and more greed.
M, 25 Jan 2021I was wondering how come I don't have issues with links. Yes, disabling MIUI optimisation... moreYes, I also disable MIUI optimization because some apps get killed with it or don't work properly with it. It was OK disabling it in Android 10. But in the Android 11 update of the Poco F2 Pro, it creates more problems than it solves, so now, I have to leave it on. It's like choosing between the devil and the deep blue sea. I'll be downgrading to Android 10 once my device is unlocked (7 days for first time). I can't tolerate the bugs - not being able to use 3rd party launchers (Nova has always been my launcher of choice; using it for several years). And that ugly white/black bar at the bottom center of the screen in FULL DISPLAY mode that is as buggy as hell, cannot be hidden at all, causing permanent AMOLED screen burn in and it is annoyingly stupid it serves ZERO purpose while CHOPPING OFF content making the bottom bezel look so much bigger it is just horrendous to look at. Then you cannot also hide anymore the status bar using ADB commands or using apps like Second Screen. Android 11 is just stupid. Just give us the security patches Xiaomi and forget about stupid Android 11 that's become less and less customizable and more like Apple's iOS because of Google's greed.
I was wondering how come I don't have issues with links. Yes, disabling MIUI optimisation always brakes some features of the phone - e.g. 3 finger screenshot doesn't work (and there are other features that stop working).
On the other hand, MIUI optimisation kills apps, and some only work properly with the setting OFF.
But in the end, I always leave it ON, because otherwise MIUI is even worse to use...
Anonymous, 22 Jan 2021I'm on 12.2.4.0 RJKEUXM. Attaching files in Gmail and other email apps is broken. This is... moreTurning back ON MIUI optimization (Settings - Additional Settings - Developer Options) seems to solve this problem and many others involving attaching files to emails, uploading photos for reviews in shopping apps and problems regarding 'Open with', 'Complete Action With' and 'Share with'. It fixes not being able to open PDF files via File Manager. Why? I absolutely do not know. Still, turning MIUI Optimization to OFF (default setting in 'Developer Options' is ON) will create all these sorts of maladies/bugs in Android 11 but NOT in Android 10. Go figure.
The rest of the bugs remain - custom launchers have broken navigation gestures, no recent apps displayed, etc. Xiaomi is probably forcing Poco F2 Pro users to use only its own Poco launcher and own MIUI apps/MIUI bloatware.
Anonymous, 23 Jan 2021is it okay if you dont update it?Yes, it's OK. Just wait when a better, newer version (newer than 12.2.4.0) arrives with fewer issues and serious bugs. As it is, the current Android 11 version update just has TOO MANY issues and SERIOUS bugs you may not want to use your phone for some tasks because of the bugs. For example, when I send an email with an attachment to anybody, I can't do that on my Android 11 updated Poco F2 Pro. I need to copy first the attachment to another phone and send the email from that other phone! If I want to upload a photo for a product review on an shopping shopping site, my Android 11 updated Poco F2 Pro can't do that. I have to transfer the photo first to another phone and do the review there. If I want to view PDF files, I can't view them from file manager. I have to download and use another app that reads a PDF file, open that PDF reader app, and open the PDF file from that app's list. These are not the only issues. There are many more if you use third party launchers (Ex. Nova launcher), use dark mode, use gesture based navigation, etc. etc. Once you update, there's no going back. You'll have to suffer those bugs I mentioned and keep waiting for a newer update with major bug fixes. This update really is criminal, Xiaomi should never have released it. A security patch update without a major Android version update would have been better while they are still fixing bugs in Android 11 rather than release a half baked Android 11 OTA with many serious bugs.
John be, 23 Jan 2021Battery issues on android 11, 12.2.4?For me personally, the battery is as good, if not better.
BUT, the update is still not worth it, as you can read about all the bugs it brings all over the internet...
I use "Spigen Rugged Armor Case", and I like it very much. It's 9 EUR on Amazon, but it's quality - no comparison to chinese fakes for 1-3 EUR.
It fits perfectly, covers the camera, and grips over the front of the phone about 1 mm, so you can put it down on a table.
i also got lucky with a glass protector, which fits from edge to edge of the case.
But consider, that it makes the phone even bulkier - although not as much as the big rugged cases made from plastic + rubber.
Please recommend the case for the Poco F2 pro and that it is soft and safe because the one that came with it is hard and nothing.
Anonymous, 23 Jan 2021It's 100% a DRM issue. Not all phones with Widevine L1 certification are guaranteed playb... moreThank you very much for the information, I should agree 100% with it. Having 'Widevine L1' certification itself alone is not sufficient for phone models, manufacturer should also seek Widevine L1 'support' as well from popular streaming platforms. But it is so surprising that few mid-range models from same manufacturer are capable to stream content in hd but their flagship offering doesn't. Have got the issue escalated to their dev community and awaiting feedback, will post here if it helps others on this thread. You are correct, observed that Samsung has never had this issue on their models. Its really cheating just advertising like the models have Widevine L1 support without practical use.
did the update few days ago, Global 12.2.4
right after the update I factory reset my phone.
updated the poco launcher manually by downloading latest beta .apk file from google.
no issues after that.
full screen gestures working fine even after hiding the bottom nev bar.
performance is good and better then before.
animations are still broken on poco launcher, which is very frustrating.
apps opening animation is better then before but closing animation is broken.
another bug is that if you open app from app draw and do the home gesture, it do not go home, but returns to app draw..
google feed on left is still very laggy. I don't know why
sometimes it scrolls fine and sometime it has lot of lag. not seen this in any other phone.
battery life same as before, which is great and I must say the best battery life this class of phones..
no android 11 new features, what is the point of giving android 11 then ?
not new style of notifications, no notification history, and all other android 11 features.
for that they say wait for 12.5
these are my thoughts

Anonymous, 22 Jan 2021I'm on 12.2.4.0 RJKEUXM. Attaching files in Gmail and other email apps is broken. This is... moreMore 'criminal' update bugs in the Poco F2 Pro's 12.2.4.0 MIUI/Android 11 update: Websites that require Captcha before log in are broken, you won't see Captcha photos and you will NEVER be able to LOG IN! That's on top of not being able to attach files in emails, attach files in online shopping site reviews, not being able to view PDF files from File Manager apps, broken 'open with', 'complete action with' and 'share' /link functionality, broken full display mode, broken dark mode, broken full display gestures, broken third party launcher support, broken auto brightness, etc. etc. It is such a horrendously buggy update NOBODY SHOULD UPDATE THEIR POCO F2 PRO to Android 11/MIUI 12.2.4.0 or earlier (all variants) until all these stupid bugs are corrected. Xiaomi should have never released this update. A security patch update only would have been better until such time the Android 11 update is functional and workable. Android 11 with MIUI 12.2.4.0, (or other earlier Android 11 updates on this phone) is just too criminal.
Satya, 22 Jan 2021I am 100% sure that its not boot loader issue, got phone purchased in Dec 2020 from official X... moreIt's 100% a DRM issue. Not all phones with Widevine L1 certification are guaranteed playback in HD in phone by a streaming service. It still depends on the streaming service - Amazon, Netflix, Hulu, etc. if the phone manufacturer is granted playback rights in HD. At least this is my experience with China branded phones. Playback of DRM encoded content is NEVER assured with China based phone brands: Xiaomi, Oneplus, Oppo, Vivo, Realme, Huawei, EVEN IF the manufacturer claims 'Widevine L1 Certification' and 'DRM info' app says 'Widevine L1'
If you care so much about watching and streaming DRM encoded videos (Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, Disney, etc.) and use frequently those services from your phone, AVOID CHINA BRANDED phones (Huawei, Xiaomi, Oneplus, Oppo, Vivo, Realme, Lenovo, etc.) AT ALL COSTS. Always go with Samsung, LG, Sony, Asus and Pixel/Android One phones for a frustration free HD streaming experience.
Good phone but too heavy to be comfortable. The weight of this phone is too much.
Why do my poco f2 pro dont have the lockscreen to wallpaper transition? Already updated it to android 11 and latest miui?

Anonymous, 21 Jan 2021Your phone software was probably tampered (that is, bootloader was unlocked in the past). I am 100% sure that its not boot loader issue, got phone purchased in Dec 2020 from official Xiaomi UK store. Would like to know if its fine (Amazon Prime titles playing on HD) on other Poco F2 pro handsets.
