Chrsjns, 17 Jun 2020Is the poco f2pro the same phone as the redmi k30pro? They look the same?Yes and No.

Both phones have exactly the same hardware components and build except for the phone name/label. However, the K30 PRO runs on official MIUI China ROM (no Google Playstore, Play Services or Google apps - Gmail, YouTube, etc.), while the Poco F2 PRO runs on Global MIUI ROM (with official Google Playstore, Play Services, and Google apps).

Google Playstore and other Google apps can be installed/sideloaded in K30 PRO with official MIUI China ROM but they can be very buggy. Also, the same post-installed Google apps (including Playstore) can be uninstalled anytime; in fact, factory resetting a K30 PRO phone with official MIUI China ROM can remove Google apps (including Playstore) so you'll have to reinstall them again.

Some K30 PRO units may also have fake global ROMs or what's called a 'vendor' ROM. They can have 'unofficial/sideloaded' Google Playstore, Play Services and Google apps but they have unlocked bootloaders (open padlock icon upon boot) so the device security is doubtful. Vendor ROMs do not get updated at all (TRANSLATION: No android security or software updates forever) and the Google apps that run on them can be very buggy with no software updates at all to fix them.

Ammar, 16 Jun 2020Please suggest this phone or oneplus7t, both prices are almost same in my country. The Poco F2 Pro is better. Oneplus 7T has an older snapdragon 855+ chipset, has no IR blaster, has no 3.5mm jack, has no 8K video, has an ugly notch, although the FLAT screen is perfect with higher refresh rate (if you're into that hype); it also has a much smaller battery, and is approaching one year old (only one more year of guaranteed android software update support). On top of those, I really don't like Onepus' jpeg output/jpeg processing engine. Oneplus and Samsung tend to do the same approach in processing - oversaturating/clipping color channels, oversmoothing and oversharpening images (aggressive noise reduction very similar to Samsung's style) resulting in seemingly nice-looking photos in small phone screens, but otherwise looking artificial and overcooked in larger 4K or 8K computer screens which don't lend well to cropping and
post processing. The Oneplus 7T is cheaper though than the Poco F2 Pro by $40 (SRP prices). Now if in your place, they cost the same, Poco F2 Pro is a seriously much better choice (unless if you believe that 'pop up camera is fragile thing myth').

The pop up issue is related to Whatsapp and Wechat. Enabling pocket mode disables it. Anybody can also set the app permission for camera for both offending apps to 'off' or 'always ask'. Xiaomi has also rolled out an update months ago to earlier model Xiaomi phones with pop up cameras to add further customizations to the pop up camera. Now if you don't use those two apps, you don't have to do anything. It's really making a fuss about a non-issue, like making a mountain out of a mole hill just to nitpick and downplay the beautiful punch hole free, notch free, pop up equipped full screen display phones.

wbpwns, 16 Jun 2020You mean the front camera pops up when you receive a video call before answering it yet? Yes, it pops up the moment you receive a video call (before answering). I've seen someone complaining about that on AliExpress.
If I think about it it makes sense to pop-up when receiving a video call but it's also kind of weird and anoying if it happens in a pocket

DaneLaw, 15 Jun 2020Careful dude in the comments' taking 6GB DDR5 claims for valid without any proofs. all sites ... more2 things:
1. I haven't and won't buy the poco f2 pro. At least not yet. I'll wait for second half of the year phones if there's a flagship without holes/notches with comparable or even better specs than this.
2. I kept asking about the ram if it's lpddr4x or 5 because I prefer to future-proof if ever, but it's not an end all reason for me to stop buying this phone in the future

For those of you who answered that 6gb ram is lpddr5 but actually lied (idk yet the truth), hope your lives or even just your day got better by lying about it

Do you really think pop up phone manufacturers can fumble on and miss such glaring things like these? Have you heard of a pocket mode or a smartphone's proximity sensor? Have you seen JerryRigEverthing showing the pop up camera's durability? That should answer your question. You're making a big fuss about pop up problems and things that don't exist.

Maybe he's referring to that.
Also can anyone confirm that this issue also happens even if the phone is in a poket or bag. That would be very anoying.
I see the price is dropping and was considering this phone but popping up camera in my pocket would be a no deal

Careful dude in the comments' taking 6GB DDR5 claims for valid without any proofs.
all sites list the 6GB variant as DDR4X so unless you get some proof, like a video highlighting it for that model, be careful assuming anything, its you money not people running around with perhaps false info..
anybody else, got info on the 6GB variant, can we conclude DDR4X like specs and the dude says otherwise, are trolling or wishfull-guessing.

your Poco F2 Pro doesn't have it, someone else probably already removed it.

Anonymous, 14 Jun 2020It's weird that all reviews of this phone don't mention at all that this "International" phone... moreBecause 'international' is a relative term for Xiaomi. The phone's lower price range is actually intended for emerging economies that are sensitive to pricing - mostly price sensitive countries in Asia and Europe where it has a strong following and significant market share.

It's weird that all reviews of this phone don't mention at all that this "International" phone doesn't have most basic LTE bands to work in the US.
Most of the bands are only good for Asia and Europe.

Add a safety factor of 50% for heavy selfie and face unlock users and it should still give you 4.1 years lifespan still.

A 14-day failure rate is highly unlikely therefore unless there is already a pre-existing failure or factory defect, in which case, you should have your phone replaced or get a refund.

You can actually visit the Nex S forum (2-year old phone) or the Mi 9T forum (1-year old phone), both with pop up cameras, and you'll actually have an idea just how reliable pop up cameras are. You won't see complaints of pop up failures and you can actually expect design and durability improvements in newer phones.
