I had this phone in 2020 with 2/32 GB variant. The battery was amazing. Single charging can run for 1.5 days. But the phone was very slow. I could barely run 2 apps at a time. After 3 months, it was too slow to run single app thus, I discarded the phone in frustration. Within a year, it automatically died.

Amazing smarphone,
i hardbricked it 2 times, support helped me, thanks,
i was attacked by 2 Niles crocodiles during my vacation in Egypt, killed one of them with my redmi 8a, the second one was scared and ran away, water didn't damaged my redmi 8a a bit!!! so much about certification of water protection!!
i am still using it as my second phone,
btw, i flashed xiaomi-eu, it gave my phone second life, well, maybe fifth life,
anyway, it runs amazing after 4 and half years!!!

This product should not be upgraded to Android 10, and should have stayed in Android 9. Plus, the 2GB model shouldn't have existed in the first place.

MysticDreamer, 12 Jul 2023A scratch has appeared on the screen and I am wondering how and when and why on gorilla glass??? Gorilla Glass Doesn't translate to an invicible screen. My Galaxy S23 Has the newest Gorilla screen and it cracked when it fall from my pocket. It Badly cracked and It shattered My finger, Ouch!
You should get a Screen protector, for like $10 or more, To ensure the lifetime of your screen. Cheers!

she got it for 7000pkr which is like $42.
I just checked it yesterday
As I was cleaning & deleting stuff up
Cause once the 80% marks hit
It will slow down disasterously
I checked to see if it would play h.265 mkv
& It was playing it stutteringly,lol
My hybrid tab that I use as basically a television can't play h.265
It's a core m3 m5y10c 4gb
Any way previous month my mum complained that the display isn't coming on fast,using power key
I knew that they have filled in & bloated it again
Temporarily I just rebooted it & that solved her problems
Now I have cleaned memory space as well
But I have now bought a stupid replacement
A sharp Aquos sense 5G 4gb for her
Now because the screen on the 8A is 6'3
& Sense5g is 5'8
She's basically ignoring the new cheapster
& Using that one
She's stuck & my coin is wasted
I basically bought this for $120 here
& I would just give this on $42 to her
& She's not interested, I'm screwed

I used this phone about 3 years now but when i first buy it it's not lag but when this in 2022 - 2023 the new update is so slow and can't run apps with the 2 RAM of the phones i play PUBG,MOBILE LEGENDS and FREE FIRE is now lag and the chipset of SnapDragon 439 is not for gaming.

This device is not for gaming i know but I've been playing a game for 8 months now and it was running smoothly until last update for the game, is the mobile weak for the game now ?

This phone had a decent performance in the first year. It could run PUBG, but it's not the smoothest but still enjoyable until MIUI sucks its performance. Dunno why it became much much slower even with daily casual use without gaming. In some cases, the CPU hits 100% using even not running anything. But, I thought it was the last Redmi A series that had perfect features.
