Great for a daily driver but has a lot of problems, miui isn't optimize for gaming, heats up a lot and then freezes. If your looking for a midrange gaming phone don't buy this but if ur looking for a daily driver phone then this phone surely is great.

MIUI is notorious for it's aggressive ram management, heavy animations, AND higher throttling threshold.
They'll let their devices heat so that it doesn't sacrifice performance along way until eventually it throttles anyways.
In realme's case i have tried the 6i and 7 which both don't overheat, and they use mediatek.
The redmi 9 not only has a MIUI 12.5 software, but also a FHD+ display which increases workload heavily on the GPU, and excessive GPU work time are the most common cause of heating(especially in games at the case of redmi 9 compared to 6i).
Quick note: after disassembling the phone(redmi 9) i found out there is both a thermal paste and a thermal pad/sticker applied between the SoC and the board, now i know why the heat gets distributed to the whole phone easily.

Mediatek 12nm Helio p35, G25 and G35 doesn't heat at all unless it's a software problem. My Galaxy a12 and my oppo a54 are mediatek based phones which support fast charging and don't heat at all. Don't get me wrong, but Xiaomi has a long story of having overheating problems just like Nokia has a long story of loose charging port problems

Mine keeps switching off and freezing and at some point it's says battery getting hot and it's only 3 month old I have update software and I did a factory setting. I loved my note 3 but note 9 is giving me a lot of problems. Any one else having this issue

For those who are complaining about bad quality night shots clearly doesn't know how to use the camera, just use the pro mode and set the iso to 100 to reduce noise, and then set the shutter speed to 15 seconds or above for brighter image, but like any other night camera you should hold your phone really steady.

Not laggy at all, and battery lasts one full day and half of extensive use.
I'm a new user, but I'm completely happy so far.

I can't record calls, because in the Google Phone app there is no record button.
My Redmi 9 mobile came from the factory with the MIUI global stable version 11.0.9.0 (QJCEUXM) android version 10QP1A.190711.020 and I cannot record calls, there is no record button in the Google Phone App.
After it was updated to MIUI 12.0.2.0 stable (QJCEUXM) and the same android version 10QP1A.190711.020 and you cannot record calls from the Google Phone app either, (there is no record button)
Even if you download the mirror Call Recorder App, it doesn't work to record calls either, only your voice is recorded but not the voice of the other person.
My sister has a Xiaomi Redmi 7 A if you can record calls, because it has the stable MIUI 12.0.2.2 version (QCMEUX) Android version 10 QKQ1.191014.001 (in this version the Google Phone app if the record button appears)
I am going to return Redmi 9 to buy a Redmi 7 A, because if I can record calls.
