There is a new crop of Redmi Note 15 phones in town, and we have started going through them one by one. Today, we have the Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G. It is not the best of the lot, but it's certainly not the worst either. We would call it a sensible middle-ground kind of device in the grand scheme of things.
As is typically the case, Xiaomi isn't rocking the boat too hard. You really can't afford to make any sweeping formula changes on a bestseller like the Redmi Note family, or you risk way too much.
Still, there are some changes coming from last year's Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G. It has grown in size a bit from 6.67 inches screen diagonal to 6.83 inches. The phone's overall footprint has been affected a bit as well, though it is worth noting that the Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G is a bit thinner than its predecessor. It is slightly heavier though, at 210 grams - still reasonable. In fact, the entire design and silhouette of the handset have been switched up this year. Instead of rocking a curved display, the Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G has an entirely flat panel. It is also flat on the back. The middle frame is wide and uniform in shape and size all around. It's a more modern design language overall.
Before we move away from the physical aspects of the phone, it is worth noting that the Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G is tougher than ever, with an IP69/IP69K ingress protection rating. Although not a new addition, Xiaomi also highlights the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 front glass.
The Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G makes up for the extra weight at least partially through its larger 6,580 mAh battery capacity. Last year's Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G had a 5,110 mAh battery, making the difference definitely not insignificant.
Last but certainly not least, last year's MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Ultra has been upgraded to a Dimensity 7400 Ultra.
As we said, the changes are not numerous or sweeping, but there are still plenty of them and most arguably upgrades.
The Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G we received for review has a 45W Xiaomi fast charger inside the box; however, consumers in the EU might not be so lucky.
Beyond that, we also get a nice semi-soft, gray TPU case in the box.
