Enough said for those who complain.
I would say at it's selling price at that time, you simply can't get any better options, unless you willing to pay more.
But that is 3 years ago, which smartphone market have changed so much.
So, when you all try to blame this phone, please compare fairly with the same price point smartphone at that time.
Been using this phone for the past 2 years now, first off, it has TOO MUCH bloatware, that isn't even customisable to translate to english, secondly, this phone's software updates are horrible, in which Xiaomi (or Redmi) do not actually test updates for bugs and the such, instead removing them as they are reported in later updates. Thirdly, if you like even the hint of normal, don't look for it in here. Apps and features are constantly given revamps every 6 months or so, in which app shapes (eg, squarish to a circle) and the task manager, which you get from pressing the three lines, turned from swipe up to clear, to swipe left and right to clear, something about "saving space". This phone is also not very structurally safe, bending easily and scratching at 6 Mohs and having little indents at 3 Mohs
All in all, buy another android phone if you have the money
been using it for 2.5 years. still going strong great for web browsing, FHD video(youtube /twitch). changed the battery resently no real problem there few annoyances(software) but overall great.
RZ, 14 Apr 2019I am using Mi Note 3 since 2016. Not facing any issue ...The same, almost 3 years old now. Unfortunately the 10.2.1.0 MHOMIXM is the lats update and they broke the camera, when recording it keeps focusing continuously. :(
Redmi note3 pro is 4g volte enabled phone. I do not understand why airtel volte does not work. jio sim works fine .jio networks is far far ahead of airtel networks in India .Thanks
I am using this phone since 2 years only 2 to 3 times get hanged...but the battery is still very good
I am having this phone for 2 years now. Gave me no problems, battery is still good.
Excellent phone, in fact the best i have used, better than some flagship Samsungs . Using since June 2016, no issues at all
About 2 1/2 years with me, and very happy about it, my wife and daughter have the same phone and all the 3 works just fine, and yes Xiaomi upgraded to MIUI Global 10.2, thanks Xiaomi!
Tejasvi, 22 Dec 2018Its the fault of miui dev team to wrongly put miui 9 in front of miui version 10.1.1.0...Com'm... moreThe realistic question, not everyone has PC or laptop, and not everyone know how to flash custom ROM, it is all some much more manual work that might cause the smartphone to brick if not properly follow the steps.
Then, there is also no guarantee or warranty after flashing custom ROM. Yes, the device itself by the time of writing almost 3 years old, already long out of warranty, but people still need to have caution on custom ROM.

All smartphone manufacturers just want to earn more by expecting buyer to ditch their outdated smartphone and buy the latest model they release each years.
Of course Google is the bigger part to blame where they can't support every hardware platform properly.
Then, providing longer support also means need to spend more money for software engineers to maintain the devices, which doesn't add to manufacturer earning.

Then, pricing actually comes as the more realistic factor. In fact the proper stock Android experience phone such as Google Pixel series, Android One series, some might say Oneplus and Motorola UI are close to stock Android, are actually more expensive today than others almost equivalent speced smartphone.
Good or bad? At least Xiaomi is a proper brand that got maintain their smartphone software for years, despite not every updates give positive fixes, but their price to performance ratio are among the highest.
