I've been using this device for 5 years and to be honest it's not worth it but I have no choice to just buy it rather than to not have a phone. One of the reasons why this device is not worth it at all is that it uses a chipset from the previous generation smartphone which it came out in 2016. It's better to be powered by Snapdragon 675 even if you have to wait until October 2018 instead of using a chipset that is almost 2 years old at that time. And the battery capacity should be increased to 5000mAh compared to the same 4000mAh as the generation of Redmi Note before that. As for the camera, it's fine. It's just that this device is not equipped with dual camera lenses like the Redmi Note 5 Pro and Redmi Note 5 Ai Dual Camera. What's the point of the name of this device Redmi 5 Plus if there's nothing plus about it?
Using this phone four and a half years. Official ROM 8.1 with miui 11 and has 3 gigabytes of RAM memory. Drop this phone in concrete and on the road maybe 30+ times over the years with no problem at all. Screen okay, phone without a scratch because I am using a Spigen case from the beginning. During the pandemic I have clean this case with antiseptic hankies more than 500 times :)) this case is a monster! Of course my next phone will be Xiaomi again! :)
Got the 3/32 version and Used this phone with android 12.1 custom rom, the experience was quite bad as there was alot of app refreshes but it had smooth animations and everything just works for daily use just dont play heavy games like genshin because it runs at like 9 fps on lowest. I used it for online learning and it eventually swelled up the battery and i replaced it with "original battery" that was trash then the phone was dropped a few days later so unfortunately i had to retire the phone as replacing the display and battery will cost as much as the phone itself
Never had any issues with the battery until it swelled up.
Overall i am satisfied with this phone as it is my first phone that i bought but for anyone that still has the 3/32 version i think its better to use Arrow OS Android 10 if u want apps in the background but the tradeoff is the animations are laggy sometimes.
But if you want smooth animations i think Android 12 or 13 will work well enough

Bought it second-hand mid 2021 for my son's lockdown home learning. Battered with min 6 hrs per day conferencing for almost 2 years, charging in and out while using, battery still going strong even now. It was only need changing its little charging board (did it DIY). Screen color looks a bit washed now, but hey.., this phone still my best $65 investment !

I bought this phone a week ago. It costs 54USD for RAM 4/64 version and It has China MIUI ROM in it. Is it reasonable price? I am started thinking to install Custom ROM for higher android version. Please suggest me suitable Custom ROM for this phone. I am not a gamer. Thanks.
still being used till present and everything still ok (even haven't change battery), planned to get Xiaomi POCO F4 GT and hopefully can have in Cambodia
has been used for 4 yrs, still smooth THX
Great phone. Served me well for four years. Had to replace battery after 2 year. One issue with 2 SIMs loaded: couldn't connect with a US carrier. Removing one SIM solved the problem. Never had that issue in Israel.
