GSM Arena needs to clarify on the specifications page that specs of Indian version are different or maybe have a new page for the Indian version.
Because many many people are going to be misled by the specs which are of the Chinese / International variant and also the many review videos on YouTube.
I am not sure if this was done intentionally by Xiaomi but I can say one thing. Lot of people who buy it for the 48MP camera based on reviews find out later it's. 12MP camera....will NEVER buy a Xiaomi Redmi product EVER AGAIN.

Games over !!!
I was waiting for the Note 7 fro. December when they launched it in China. I was impressed by its blue purple and red pink gradient back and 48 MP camera. Also the face that most reviews were positive especially regarding the picture quality. And everyone said it would be released in India at about 10000-11000 INR and I was OK with that.
But what I saw being released yesterday was a totally different product. The phone that is being sold as RN7 in India comes with a 12-2 MP camera with 1.25 pixel size which is the same as the camera in previous generations.
This to mind is misleading consumers. So I went ahead and purchased a Samsung M20 which costs the same but which gives me the same specs as any M20 being sold anywhere in the world. So I have good clarity on what I am getting into.
Xiaomi India should stop this nonsense marketing strategy else they will lose lot of Redmi customers like me in the years to come.

I've previously always defended RN7 for being better in camera performance vs M20 in the assumption of Samsung GM1 camera sensor. But if you're talking about the Indian RN7 version, then the game has turned upside down now. Without further testing, I can say M20 will perform much better in camera performance. With all factors being equal, Samsung has always better camera optimization than Xiaomi in the first place , especially if the sensor is their own product, but now with Samsung M20 has much better aperture at 1.9 vs RN7 Indian vesion at 2.2......do we need need further investigation which camera will win ?
As a non-indian, I might get a global version with 48MP camera,...lucky me. But then, for the sake of fairness, I still personally think that is very unwise for Xiaomi to equip a much inferior camera and still call it RN7. I will not blame those people who call Xiaomi "cheating", because I would also be upset and very disappointed if all my anticipation & excitement goes down the drain like that. 48MP at 1.8 Aperture vs 12MP at 2.2 Aperture.....that is a serious discrepancy of camera performance..... to call it the same name REDMI NOTE 7 is a slap in the face to their own fans.

Which means 'note' is more of a cheap copy of the ' note pro' model with less specs.I wonder whether camera 2 ap1 is enabled out of box?.

Principally you get a worse phone at the same price from last year. Sure you get SD660 compared SD625 last year, but that is an inevitable improvement because of the Sock's evolution itself. So, it is more about sock evolution, rather than upgrade. Now, the camera. it is just about the same camera performance with RN5 which is 2.2 Aperture, 12MP. So, principally you pay the same price for similar product as last year. No improvement at all, except the a slightly better sock due to Snapdragon's sock evolution itself.

Sun, 01 Mar 2019Redmi Note 7 vs Galaxy M20, which one is better? One thing you must consider is the international / Chinese variant of RN7 is different from the one released in India. So the Indian version has a 12 MP camera with sensor coming from unknown source (not confirmed Samsung or Sony). So if you refer to the Indian version I would say go for M20 because its an honest product. At least you are getting the same specs that consumers all across the world would get.
Better to buy chinese variant. Some more bucks to pay but still better than Indian variant

Anonymous, 01 Mar 2019They always does this.hype up a product and release something different in India.everyone was... moreIt is still not ethical way of selling products. When RN7 was released in China the price was said to be 150/- USD and everyone was saying they would release it at a price of about INR 10000/-. What they have done is released an entirely different phone at same price with lower specs. Why? Why not release the same international product at whatever price that allows them to sell at a reasonable profit?
And if they had to do it why not add a suffix after Redmi Note 7 something like I which would make it clear to buyers that they are buying a product that is different from the international variant.

Anonymous, 01 Mar 2019i would still prefer metal to glassit is a matter of preference. Some people like aluminium better, and others like scatch resistant gorilla glass. For me, both are equally fine, although I might like gorilla glass better because I have more problem of scratching the body than possible bending the phone in my pocket.
