Xiaomi has also used Sharp, EBBG and BOE panels in low-end Redmi phones before.
Burn-in is not a common issue with LCDs. It's much more prevalent with OLEDs. My guess is your brother got a defective

Dan, 18 Feb 2019I still have the Redmi Note 1 from 2014, no issues with its LCD. Does the burn-in go away?if you have no burn-in issue on your phone, means lucky. Burn-in also can be fixed by instaling and applying Ghost Screen Fix app or sfilter-Blue filter app on Play Store or root phone and install Kernel Adiutor and edit the RGB blue and green. If the default 256, that's make the phone burn-in/image retention. By reducing the RGB value to 170 or 180. The burn-in/image retention will be disappear.

Dar Lene, 19 Feb 2019Hmmm too bad :/Check FB, there are lots of resellers(which are also cheaper than store price). Also look at lazada or shopee, there are also reputable seller online. Just don't forget to check comments and ratings so that you will not be scammed.

chin is somewhat big (compared to say Samsung M20), and the colors are not really my kind of taste.. hope this gradient craze will soon pass, the only nice ones were the first Honor light blue/grey models. unfortunately Honor still hasn't made a nice AndroidOne phone with NFC, microSD (how can there still be phones without it?!) and a normal price.

M30 will have Super Amoled, and thats a great, but competition (this time from Xiaomi) will be Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro - with under display fingerprint scaner.
